as the bible was originally in hebrew ( i think ) and then translated into latin and greek, and then into the english version i can understand, i feel it would be virtually impossible for everything to be as intended. If you translate a poem and you want to keep the meaning close to the original, usually you have to lose the rhyme, and so lose the instrinsic qualities of a poem and turn it into prose. ( either that or try to keep a rhyme scheme and stray further from the source text in order to make it fit )Therefore there might be some passages in which the intention is altered. I've heard that hebrew is both a very metaphorical, lyrical and poetical language, so i worry i am missing out on a lot .

What if your child wanted to be a Catholic or Buddhist monk or nun?Or a Missionary or a Muslim? What if your child became an Atheist, Agnostic, Pagan, Christian, ect...Whatever it is you are not? How would you react? I am not asking if you would like it or if you would approve of it but would you support your child?
Peace Be With You,

Suppose someone you knew fairly well, who shares your faith (or lack there of), was an active alcoholic some five years ago. They have abstained from any sort of alcohol for those five years.

A) Should they call themselves an alcoholic? Why/Why not?

B) Would you encourage them to drink alcohol in moderation? Why/Why not?

C) Would you want to see them continuing to go to Alcoholics Anonymous? Why/Why not?

OK, now let me see if I got this straight, because what it sounds like you're telling me is that God sent His boy to His people so that His people could kill His Boy in order to save them from the wrath of.....God.

I don't remember where I found this quote, but struck me as simple, yet precise.

In many of the answers I've gotten and answers of other questioners I've read in the Religion & Spirituality section, (not all but, a lot of) Christians couldn't care less about Nature. - I find this troubeling because the Earth is the only place in the cosmos where humanity can exist. If the Earth is destroyed, humanity will likewise no longer be.

When God gave man dominence over the Earth, wasn't that actually the RESPONSIBILITY to PRESERVE and PROTECT IT?

Adam was given the "dominence" BEFORE the Serpent, CORRECT?

Respectfully speaking, not an attack on religion, but regarding what is taught in a public school,

does someone need to tell creationists and intelligent design proponents, to put up or shut up?

Everyone would agree that Evolution is a Theory and should not be taught as a fact, pro-evolution literature that I have says it is being taught incorrectly in 75% of classes. This is wrong wrong wrong and comes from pro-evolution literature.

Should it be taught as a Theory not as a fact? Yes. And to the creationists, does someone need to tell them put up or shut up with what scientific evidence do you have?

Someone has to do it, the Flying Spaghetti Monster maybe isn't illustrating the point, maybe jim_darwin isn't illustrating the point, who will? Who can?

Actual evidence points towards jesus not dying on the cross. Its suggested that he ended up in Kashmir in India, where he lived a long and pieus life. His tomb is there and has been since at least 115 ad.
Modern christianity is so secular and confused and it is so because the book you refer to as the truth has next to none in. There is very little , if any, irefutable christian evidence, yet the rest of the world seems to have a lot of uncensored , historical evidence for the man called jesus.
The bible has more to do with 2000 year old politics than it does the true account of jesus and it was not even written at the time of jesus.

When will the church(es) finally come clean and tell you all it was a con to make you submissive enough to rule and to rule through fear too.
How can you believe such obvious controlling dogma?

Is this a lie, since the Flying Spaghetti Monster plays with the needles when the Carbon Dating Machine tests the fossills of dinosaur bones?

Should we, instead, teach the children that there was no death till Adam and Eve sinned, and that the carbon dating is unreliable, since the Flying Spaghetti Monster, he playes with the needles on the machine, with His Noodly Appendage?

Serious question, put up or shut up creationists, what is the scientific objection you have to carbon dating that gives us results from different machines that Dinosaurs existed lived and died over 65 million years ago? The Bible is not scientific, I have a New King James Version right here that admits it is not the inherit word of God because there have been changes over time from the originals.

Put up or shut up, what is the specific scientific reason with the Carbon Dating Machines? Do you have any documentation, not "a friend told me he sent in a rock"?

if YOU are ask to "perform or speak" on a paid event/program(as special guest), and wish to bring along your personal assistant or husband/wife, are they suppose to be charged? this question is moreso church related. Am I wrong in thinking that 1 "additional person" should be free of charge and anyone else(second or third persons) accompanying me SHOULD then be charged?
What is the industry procedure in this matter? I figure an artist/bishop/speaker(like Juanita Bynum) would have a manager or agent or personal assistant or secretary, accompanying them when they travel to minister, and aren't charge admisstion/registration fee....am i assuming wrong? where can i find out more information.
