In many of the answers I've gotten and answers of other questioners I've read in the Religion & Spirituality section, (not all but, a lot of) Christians couldn't care less about Nature. - I find this troubeling because the Earth is the only place in the cosmos where humanity can exist. If the Earth is destroyed, humanity will likewise no longer be.
When God gave man dominence over the Earth, wasn't that actually the RESPONSIBILITY to PRESERVE and PROTECT IT?
Adam was given the "dominence" BEFORE the Serpent, CORRECT?

I think a lot of Thumpers actually see environmental apocalypse as an acceptable way to bring about the end of the world. If you assume that Jesus will come back when the world ends and take the "faithful" to heaven, then shouldn't ending the world be a major priority? Of course, ending the world by launching thousands of nuclear weapons would have a definite downside, in that you would be killing a lot of people and that might screw up your chances for going to heaven. But if we just screw up the environment enough so that it can no longer support human life, that should also force Jesus to come out of retirement, as promised. And we can ruin the environment without doing anything "sinful", just driving our SUVs excessively and blocking any legislation aimed at protecting the environment.

The good news is that this is clearly starting to change. There is enough decency among Christians that a number of churches, including some of the otherwise most immoral ones have come to recognize that they should be working to preserve the environment.
My hat is off to those Christians who have done that work. It's the most hopeful thing I've seen in my adult life with respect to religion.

The bible does call ALL Christians to be good stewards.
That means you should take care of the things God has blessed you with...including the earth.
I agree with what someone else said. Self-preservation comes first, though it may not always be the correct way to look at life.

The common answer they give is that the rapture is coming soon (the end of the world, the apocalypse, etc.) and why should they bother taking care of it if it's just going to be destroyed soon and we will all be raised into heaven or cast into hell.
I'm not saying I'm agree! I definetly don't, in fact that kind of attitude disgusts and appalls me... but that's the answer to your question....
Blessings and Light!

Some Christians have little regard for nature because people don't always do what they should. Most of the Christians I know personally have a great regard for nature.

Bad idea to paint any group of people with the same brush. I know Christians who are insane about conservation and I know other groups who could care less.

The same reason all human beings have little or no regard. Luckily, like other humans, the many don't represent all.
