the research with medicines and others ( such as stem cell )
Lets be real folks. OKay, how many of your parents take arthritis medication, blood pressure medicine, diabetes medication, heart medication? WHY ? If you're against medicine and its research YOU should let those people suffer from their ailments since something or someone had to poked and proded and researched to make the medicines, right?
Oh so its only okay when it doesnt involve humans and embroys?
Before I had my son we thought I was barren and we were gonna have to take drugs. my mother inlaw piped in ( southern baptist ) and was like thats messing with GOD, and I looked at her and I said well stop taking your arthritis medication so you cant walk anymore and then you can feel the pain I feel not being able to have a baby, she shut her mouth quick after that.
Point is, all medicine has been researched and tested in ways that is questionable, so lets stop all testing and research and lets live in pain, right?

I agree with you. If God didn't want us to have medicine he wouldn't let us discover or invent it.
PS- Rat stem cells make my husband able to eat vegetables and not bleed out of his @ss. true story- --
Yet his mom is a fundamentalist and told me some guy on the radio said stem cells were OK sometimes so blah blah blah and did I know where the cells came from. That really pissed me off! He's her son! She should be worried about how he's feeling and if he can stay out of the hospital!

You're confusing the issue here - many Christians have no objection to man made medicine. Many of us take them, or have loved ones who do and have no problem with it.

The objection is to things such as stem cell research, particularly human embryo stem cell research. It's a moral and ethical question, not just a legal one;
IS it ethical and right to live at the expense of another person?
WILL legalized human stem cell research foster an economic state of poor mothers being paid to abort fetuses?
IF a medicine is being researched unethically, is it right to use it? Does this foster continued research in a like manner?

And it's certainly not just Christians who feel this way - I point you to the animal rights movement, for example, where people of all different walks of life vehemently oppose animal testing.

Then you should be more than willing to donate your children for medical research.... Yes....no..... why not. If we kill them and experment on the body parts many more will live... that is only fare isn't it?.... you are more than willing to kill others to further medical research... why not your own children?

I completely agree with you. Good rebuttal to your Mother in law, too.
