Greetings all... I would really like to put down to paper exactly what my spiritual beliefs are, both as a record of my spiritual path for myself, but as something to pass onto my children later in life. I can't figure out what exactly constitutes the main tentants of a religion (i.e. 'what you believe about the afterlife' and 'what are your concepts and perceptions of what 'God' is?'....) Does anyone have any ideas just for the outline of an essay of this nature, and what I should include in it? I don't want to leave anything important out... has anyone else ever done this?

Blessings and Light!

That's a wonderful sentiment, Chris... but I want something that is easy to follow, logically. Arranged somewhat like a book would be, with chapters that cover certain subjects, etc. I want to know if you were taking on a project like this, what topics would you want to be sure to include?

I've started something like this but I am still working on it. I started with my personal feelings on my creation myth. Next I wrote down what my definitions were to various basic words--this helped me to really define exactly what I meant by these words (this sounds easier than it is). I added details about the deities that I honor, the ways that I honor them and why I do what I do and the myths that are the most important to me. I added what holidays I celebrate and why, my concept of what the world tree is and realms, and ethics. I included my feelings about why I am here, what I feel will happen after my physical death, and who decides my next incarnation. But it's a work in progress. I add to it and subtract from it as I grow and change. I don't think I will ever be "done" with it.

great idea! Perhaps you could start with saying what you believe in and why, what made you choose that path. Then you could include some information about other beliefs and how some people find their own faith and belief in things. Then put something in about placing importance in making the right choice in how you live your life according to your belief. Happy writing and Bright Blessings.

Youd want to include an intro, timeline(maybe when your religion became existant), why you believe what you believe, your sources for info, a comparison, a summery, and proof of what you just wrote down. I have done something like this before.

Blessed be!!!!

It just has to come from your heart. No outlines or anything, just you and all you.
