Why does anyone have to be an idiot? So what if someone believes in Jesus or God or Allah or no God or a pink unicorn or an invisibile pink unicorn or evolution or a flying spaghetti monster?

Why is it that every day on yahoo answers someone reads a question by someone who doesn't have the same belief as the asker and the answer is "your an idiot".

What happened in society where we praise this kind of thing and don't expect the opposite.

Someone I am friends with last night said on her blog she was going to Church and trying to better her relationship with God and I said heh thats awesome I hope you find peace and she emailed me asking if I was joking cause she is so used to everyones sarcasm.

Sarcasm is cute and funny and can be made to make a great point I totally agree,

but calling someone an idiot or the belief idiotic, or any unintelligent word thats similar, isn't sarcastic or cute or funny, its rude.

Don't be a Dr. Dick. Be someone cool. Nice is cool.
peace

a poster on this forum said that to believe in God and creation was like believing in pink unicorns and sky pixies. i responded with this:
I thought unicorns were a myth too but check this out

numbers 23:22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

deuteronomy 33:17 His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

and there are 7 more mentions of the unicorn
behold and believe non-believers

During a quiet moment recently, I was pondering this mess in Israel and Mel Gibson's alleged comments about Jews starting all of the trouble and wars in this world. I became suddenly aware that as a whole, the Hebrews are a very peace loving people. They stay right to them selves and leave everyone else alone and wish to be left alone. They are not out stomping around the earth trying to make everyone bend to their will. They are safe and secure with their own beliefs and do not care what the world thinks. So, how is it that a religion, based so staunchly on peace and love could be the basis for so, so, many wars throughout history? I have begun to feel that Christians as a whole are a real violent bunch. I feel guilty for questioning what I and all of my ancestors have believed for so long. Does any one have any bible passages that can help me sort this out? For the first time in my life, I wonder, was Jesus the Mesiah?

It's not necessary or even appropriate to advertise your religion in the workplace. I am Jewish but my last name is not "Jewish". I don't walk around telling people my religion so I would guess there are people here who do not know I am Jewish, just as I do not know what other people's religions are.

Yesterday one of the women here was telling about a conversation she had had with her attorney. Apparently he asked her what she thought of Mel Gibson, and when she asked why he wanted to know, he responded that he assumed she was Jewish because of her last name. She was most insulted by this and told the lawyer so. Then one of the other people at work chimed in and said "It's a good thing he didn't throw pennies at you."

Was I wrong to be offended? I did not say anything. What should I have said? Am I too thin skinned?

Do you feel you are suffering Atheists? I feel pretty good personally...

Do you need God in your life? Apparently, some believers think everyone NEEDS him some how. What is your take?

No one else was there. Couldn't he just have made it up?

What exactly is it that has led you to believe him. All of Islam is founded on this basic assumption.

It's like this. I wake up in the middle of the night with a sense of panic and paranoia. I don't understand. This has happened before but last night I felt something like a presense. It felt kinda evil.

Wednesday, we had a very challenging, upbeat discussion about the resurection. Some got upset with me, others agreed. I claimed that the resurection of Jesus has been proved scientifically to be true. Some of you got very upset. But I challenged you to do some research on your own because I was not going to get into polemics with anyone. So, take a deep breath and engage in a very intelligent debate. What do you think?

Obviously, most people know what this means already.

But if you don't.

Sheeple is a term of disparagement, created by combining the words "sheep" and "people." It implies that those people it references believe whatever they are told, without processing it to be sure that it is an accurate representation of the real world around them. The term can be applied to any group, often in a political or comedic sense. It also rhymes with "steeple," and can be used as an attack against Christians, who often refer to themselves as "flocks."

Since Jesus is your shepherd, isn't this a compliment to be called this?

The question was "Any of you Jehovahs out there want to give some blood?" Ok it was a little inflamatory but these things happen on Yahoo answers

This was an answer...

"if you were rich, would you give your money away....?
I don't think so......money is the life of a rich person....
For us, the blood represents the life we have and is very valuable before God's eyes,....so no, we wont, give blood, specially if it is for a transfusion..."

Now to me that is incredibly selfish. No justification for not giving blood other than being selfish. One can quite happily give away a pint of blood with no ill effects, so why not if you will save someones life especially as their blood represents the life they have and is very valuable before God's eyes

Sorry, I was very offended by what this person said and wondered what other people thought. And of course it gives the poster a chance to defend his/herself.

I am struggling with a question, i waiver because things are so contradicting... on one hand we read the bible, we are expected to believe , walk by faith, not by sight. but can someone who truly believes help me with this one.. i can see how we are backed in a corner , couldn't christianity be like a placebo, you Think something is true, therefore you make it fit...? could faith be something created to help people through hard times, but is just in our minds? for instance, you go to a psychic, they tell you things, if you believe , you will find something to make it come true because you want to believe someone can do that, predict the future. I've even had someone give me a sugar pill, for a terrible headache, oh this will help you in like 5 minutes, great stuff, headache was gone. only to find out it had nothing in it! i'm NOT an atheist, or agnostic, but it does make sense that i've read also if there is a god why is it amputees pray, not one has ever
gotten limbs back?

The Bhagavad- Gita is considered by eastern and western scholars alike to be among the greatest spiritual books the world has ever known. In a very clear and wonderful way the Supreme Lord Krishna describes the science of self-realization and the exact process by which a human being can establish their eternal relationship with God.
