Thank you for posting this question. I've been wondering that same thing myself for the past several weeks on here. I don't care what you believe there is NO excuse to disrespect anybody else!! I don't care if you're a Satanist, atheist, Buddhist, Christian or whatever. Just practice what you will and leave other people alone. I'm an atheist but I saw a post the other day where another atheist said "all religious people are idiots and or mentally challenged. I told them what I thought of it and it just makes the rest of us look bad. Unfortunately as long as there are humans and believers and non-believers it will continue. It's too bad because sometimes it causes hatred as well as wars.

Why do you generalize? Not everyone puts "your an idiot" when they disagree. I don't do that for a couple of reasons: First, it would be "You're an idiot" (I'm a stickler for things like that) and second would be because I try not to be judgmental. I have put that someone's question is idiotic because when that particular person is being blatantly ignorant, I'm gonna call him/her on it. It may be rude to call someone or their belief idiotic but people are going to put what they want down for their responses and there's not much you can do about it other than reporting. People are entitled to their own opinions but just because their views differ from yours doesn't make them a Dr. you-know-who.

I have many friends that have different beliefs and I support each and every one...Not saying that 1 is better than the other..but as far as I see it you have 1 chance to have friends and keep them close to you and sometimes listening is the hardest thing we can do. But sometimes thats all they need and when religon plays a part...just listen. I believe there is a god but I dont go to church i dont march around praising him and getting people to join a church..but as I see it god knows im here and he knows how i feel so weve got a good start already.....
As far as the idiot thing...I read that alot and they say that ignorance is bliss.....it runs aloof on Yahoo.....haha

I see this more than everyday on Yahoo! Answers - I see it every five minutes. In every section - not only this one. I've seen people have serious problems that they want help with and people make rude remarks to them. Yes there are several that are nice and give valid opinions and advice but that ONE person who makes a rude remark is the one answer they will remember. There's no need for it. It's sad that people ask serious questions on here and at the end of the question they feel the need to say "Serious answers only, please." I actually saw someone post a question stating that they were contemplating suicide and they got the meanest answers I have ever seen on here. It's awful.

Nice is cool MKAY. Don't do drugs MKAY.
I can have fun, mess around, and not agree with someone without being rude about it. I respect people if they deserve it, and most do. I have a problem with the types you talk about. I don't see how trying to make someone feel bad helps anyone. I like sarcasm, but I just don't cross the line too much. I just thought this reminded me of something Mr. Mackey would say. Rude is bad MKAY.

Why is it that every day on yahoo answers someone reads a question by someone who doesn't have the same belief as the asker and the answer is "your an idiot".
1st: It's "you're," not your.
And.....The Bible speaks of fools. Would you like some references?

I agree with you, Jim, especially in a place like this where most people don't know each other. It's one thing to be sarcastic and joking between friends, because usually good friends know each other well enough to know when they are joking or not. I think there are just too many people with too much time on their hands :) When people are rude to each other, that's what perpetuates hate and intolerance.

Yeah because you really follow your example.
Just look at your answer to furious Chemical refering to guinea piogs and cow licks.
You say you want to be cool with everyone yet down "fundies" with rhetoric that you think they will say or do .
Sarcasm? You are the opitomy of it.
L et me ask you why you have been banned so many times. I'm sure it's for a reason.

Because those calling others idiots are usually the idiots themselves.
For instance: If your buddy always wants you to go drinking with him then he is probably an alcoholic and doesn't want to drink alone.
So the "idiots" calling someone else an idiot just want to make themselves feel good.
Peace

I think most people are afraid that if they like or tolerate those with different beliefs it will chip away at theirs. They can't see the end of the tunnel... they don't realize the experience is enriching not defeating. The best thing in the world is peoples differences.. not their sameness.
