You mean "Love the Lord your God with all you heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength," and "Love your neighbor as yourself"? It is so easy to get distracted by other things that often we forget about these very important commandments.

The two commands from Jesus found in "The New Testament" section Of any, Holy Bible are...Love God, with all your heart, soul and mind and strength, this is the greatest....and...Love your neighbor as yourself second ! And all the other commands, and demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.
Now for the second part of my answer, (in my opinion) is that, first and foremost, you are making an assumption and secondly you are placing restrictions to,and or limiting God as he is described in the Bible,or simply you may not be aware of who he is... let me try to explain.
Assuming that you are correct, then I would have to say it is most indeed difficult to follow these commands given by Jesus. We are all human, no matter what, and what God is asking us is , that we place him first, above all things in our lives. Whether it is our husband, our wife, children, parents, grandparents or extended family, our form of employment, the desire to create a luxurious lifestyle or money, God wants to be first. Not to mention, personal interests, hobbies and different forms of vises in life, such as drugs, drinking, gambling, pornography, other forms of sexual lust. Anything can become a hindurance to putting God first. As God said in the old testament,"do not idolize or make any other thing, a god in your life", and when God says first, he means first, and I'm sure that you can understand how difficult this must be ! This is only one thing or command from the old testament that God is asking of us,(and im just referring to this because it is intertwined with what Jesus gives us in the gospels) and it most definately challenges any individual who accepts the true message of God, as stated in the Holy scriptures. It can tear into your every weakness as a human being and can get the better of you from time to time. These are human qualities of which I speak and there are also spiritual components which I will not mention, and it is probably wise if I don't.
Now I had mentioned earlier that you may be placing restrictions on God, and the second part of my answer, giving my opinion as to why it can be very difficult to keep these commands is... God (out of a Love that we don't fully understand), may challenge us to the very core of our beings, and because God wishes that we continually develop as a mature people, and the process for this is sometimes a step forward and two steps backwards kind of action and God also has many different techniques, and he is unlimited as to how he may assist someone to achieve this maturity and or growth..... Well the Bible actually states that God will discipline those that he loves, and this may very well be....yes, a very sour pill to swallow, for many of those who choose Jesus.

To love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbor as ourselves.

We find it hard to keep these because the world around us presents us with so many distractions.

Jesus gave us another commandment: to love our brethren--other believers--as He Himself loves them. That is an even taller order.

Actually there were THREE commandments.
Why so hard? You have to decide HIS will is more important than YOUR will.

Mark 12:28
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

1 John 3:22
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Love God with all of your heart, spirit, mind, soul and body.....And, love your neighbor as yourself.

Christians aren't taught these by their teachers (pastors)....They are taught the concept that salvation a free gift that can't be earned, so why the Hell try to keep these commandments?

It's the, "I got mine" philosophy.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. It's very hard sometimes, but with God's constant guidance it is absolutely possible.

There are ten commandments. Traditional division and interpretation
"I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me... .."
This commandment is to believe in the existence of God and His influence on events in the world, and that the goal of the redemption from Egypt was to become His servants (Rashi). It prohibits belief in or worship of any additional deities.
"Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."
This prohibits the construction or fashioning of "idols" in the likeness of created things (beasts, fish, birds, people) and worshipping them.
"Thou shalt not swear falsely by the name of the LORD..."
This commandment is to never take the name of God in a vain, pointless or insincere oath (Rashi). This includes four types of prohibited oaths: an oath affirming as true a matter one knows to be false, an oath that affirms the patently obvious, an oath denying the truth of a matter one knows to be true, and an oath to perform an act that is beyond one's capabilities[citation needed].
"Remember [zachor] the Sabbath day and keep it holy" (the version in Deuteronomy reads shamor, "observe")
The seventh day of the week is termed Shabbat and is holy, just as God ceased creative activity during Creation. The aspect of zachor (remember) is performed by declaring the greatness of the day (kiddush), by having three festive meals and by engaging in Torah study and pleasurable activities. The aspect of shamor is performed by abstaining from productive activity (the 39 melachot, forbidden categories of work) on the Shabbat.
"Thou shalt honor your father and your mother..."
The obligation to honor one's parents is an obligation that one owes to God and fulfills this obligation through one's actions towards one's parents.
"Thou shalt not murder"
Killing an innocent human being is a capital sin.
"Thou shalt not commit adultery."
Adultery is defined as sexual intercourse with a married woman who is not your wife (Rashi).
"Thou shalt not steal."
This is not understood as stealing in the conventional sense, since theft of property is forbidden elsewhere and is not a capital offense. In this context it is to be taken as "do not kidnap" (Rashi).
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor"
One must not bear false witness in a court of law or other proceeding.
"Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's house..."
One is forbidden to desire and plan how one may obtain that which God has given to another. Maimonides makes a distinction in codifying the laws between the instruction given here in Exodus (You shall not covet) and that given in Deuteronomy (You shall not desire), according to which one does not violate the Exodus commandment unless there is a physical action associated with the desire, even if this is legally purchasing an envied object.
