The constitution / bill of rights stresses that the government should not establish any religion. However, many are trying (& sometimes succeeding) to pass laws based on narrowly held religious tenets.

Examples include the inserting into school curricula the teaching of intelligent design (a religious teaching of fundamentalist Christians & not a component of Catholic, Jewish, mainline Christian, or other religious faiths), limitations on birth control and abortion (primarily Catholic & fundamentalist Christian), and the criminalization of homosexuality (primarily fundamentalist Christian & Catholic, but also a tenet of islam).

Based on your own beliefs, which course would it be better for the US to follow:

A common-law government with an open, multi-faith approach to religion (where persons follow their beliefs within their own communities of faith)

OR

A religious-law government that imposes criminal penalties for violations of religious rules?

When did this take place, and why?
I've seen tv shows that show Orthodox Jewish men dressed in black suits with full beards and ringlets of hair near their sideburns. But that's the outwardly appearance. What's the difference between the faiths? (celebrations, doctrine, etc.)

I'd love to hear from Jewish people, but anyone with an honest serious answer is welcome to answer.

I don't think that according to the Bible there will be sex because God was so stupid that he forgot to create Eve and I just can't help but wonder what Adam thought when he saw all the animals getting it on and he was left holding his own! Obviously God doesn't have sex and is jealous of mankind because he only has one fertile testical (Earth)-but then I guess he could argue that Satan was so damn gQQd LQQking that he had to cast him out cause Satan wasn't a homosexual and wasn't going to bow down to him-(Why else does someone or something want them to bow down except to demand their services) and Geezus never had sex and his mother was a virgin and YOU CAN'T Tell me that sex isn't just plain fun! Now that I think about it-is there even anything in the bible that promotes anykind of fun? Kind of using the religion to get the people on side. Winning the hearts and minds of their own people. the Sword and the Gospel.
In a way... The beast and his false Prophet. Hal Lindseys,Franklin graham and so on, are the false prophets.
I have heard christians discuss actually not hindering the 'end times' prophecies, so as to not delay the return of Jesus.
Its interesting in a way, maybe the future can be found in 'Revelations' but not because any 'God' is in on it.
You cant say that the American and British governments were not aware, that going into Iraq/Babylon, sends christians(their supporters) wild with Armageddon fevor.
Is it supposed to be coincidence that Many christian teachers prior to gulf war 1, were suddenly talking about a revived Babylon empire and how Saddam husein was trying to model himself after the old king.

My husband is orthodox and i am not, but i want to convert. We got married in the city hall last year and didnt get married in the church, ive been telling him over and over i want to get married in front of god in a church so god will recognize our marriage, but he doesnt want to. What can I do? I dont just want to be married by law i want to be married religously.

Im Catholic but I doubt Roman Catholicism esp in my country bec of the religious leaders getting in the way of national politics. I realized that its not about religion anymore but faith. I now prefer to talk to Him directly because people makes religion so confusing. It hurts more when atheists make fun of Catholics because of our religious leaders. There is more to God than those who are trying to interpret Him and His glory in different ways.

So everyone's answer to The Bible is "prove it", "Science says otherwise", etc. etc. But when the media says "Bush is bad" everyone says "Yeah" with no facts, or even research, or even looking at both sides. But with The Bible, people say "Yeah right", "It's false" "Prove it" etc, etc. But here's an interesting predicament, if you need proof of The Bible, (which negates the premise of faith, by the way), and did any actual research, and not just research on the net, but actual book, library, contact-the-scientist research, you would find out something. The Bible has matched ALL archealogical finds that they've looked for when science has tried a multitude of times to DISPROVED God. So, then, with that being said, how can you still say "Prove it" or "it's a lie"?
