Was there really a girl who was not aloud to graduate, b/c at her graduation she thanked God for getting where she was??

The only reason I ask is b/c my dad said that, that was why I couldnt go to public school. B/c that may end up happening to me. And I didnt believe that someone could actually not be able to graduate just for saying I thank God for where I am.

I just wanted to know what really happened

She got to graduate but they cut her speech off. It was fun to hear the Christians yell foul but you know the rules no religion in school. Its not about free speech. We get enough god shoved down our thoughts everyday.
She did not just thank god but went off on a rant on god. Enough is enough you want to believe that's fine, just stop putting it in my face every minute of the day. Learn to think for yourself. Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over!!

No. She was probably told not to say anything about God and got in trouble for doing it anyway, though.

Religion has nothing to do with whether you graduate from school or not.

The Constitution by implication decrees that personal theologies may not be imposed on others. The girl was allowed to graduate, but was not allowed (they cut her mic) to preach to all the other students. If she wants to preach she can go to church. If she wants the government to support and pay for her preaching, she might have to change her faith and move to Iran!

Graduation can not be rejected because of a comment made about god, I never heard of that.

If ever that actually happened, it should be condemned and resisted. We should always respect other people's beliefs and points of view, as long as they do not include the killing of others for their point of view.

Otherwise, it is best to check out your facts first - get the who, what, where, when and how of the matter.

I've heard that one with a suggestion that the opposite action would render that very effect upon my graduation. Almost laughable.

this answer is not directly related to your question, but very similar. at one of our local high schools this year, the female valedictorian while giving her speech addressed the under classmates and gave all her credit for academic success to her lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at that time the administrative staff unplugged her microphone she was not allowed to finish.

No. She just wasn't allowed to finish her graduation speech.

There may have been. I know there was a girl who mentioned Christ in her valedictory speech, and they cut her microphone off.

Her parents have sued the school, I understand.

No they just told her to save her preaching for the appropriate venue.
