in america appx 90% of population is christian as were most of their parents grandparent and so on.
But appx 1 billion people are atheists in the world with about 750 mil living in China(1.2bil) and Russia(150mil), where communist governments attempted to eradicate religious beliefs by telling people from birth that there was no god
this means that more than half of the religion in these nations was wiped out in less than a century b/c thats what people were taught to believe
also consider nations like afganistan where religion is widespread but a very small number are christian.
according to the bible all these people are going to hell and according to the argument i am debating they are w/o excuse
the point i am making is that most people take their religios beliefs from what they r told, whether it is in america at vacation bible school or in russia by a government employed teachers is irrelevant
do you really think that so many westerners r smart and so many others r so dumb?

With the way things are going it is us and Israel VS. the world. Is George Bush the antichrist and is the United States the Next Babylon as predicted in the book of Revelation? In gematria Bush's name = 666. Gematria is the Hebrew numerical system that transfers words into numbers. And in Revelation 13:18 it states...... Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: his number is 666. Get more info on the numbering system and Bush at www.bushisantichrist.com This site is a very good read even if you don't take it seriously. The man makes some good points with good evidence. Do you think it's true?

This is a serious question and it is not intended to bash Christians or their beliefs. Just a question I've always wondered. Many Christians I speak with tell me God is omnipotent; all powerful and all knowing. So this would mean God would know I would go to Hell before he even created the Earth because I don't believe in him, right? So why did he put me here if he knew beforehand what I would think of Him? I would certainly hope God didn't put me here just so I would go to Hell. So in case I wasn't clear, answer this question for me please: Why did God place us Atheists here if he always knew we would not believe in Him, and therefore go to Hell? Why create something that is destined to Hell?
Please, don't give me any crap on "Freewill to decide if we want Heaven or Hell". I'll post a question on what this God given freewill really is to question those peoples answer if I see one. Thanks to any serious and informative questions.

I know that astrology is followed by many people worldwide...what's amazing is that even people who do not believe in God do read stars...

Anyway I would like to understand from the spiritual point of view how astrology works.

And Astrologers are welcome also to explain how they seem to be able pin the lives of many who fall into their star e.g. Gemini so closely accurate...

Before I was born-again, I used to read them a lot and they seemed to say accurately what I was really going through...but after I gave my life to Jesus Christ, as a baby Christian, I went to read them to see if there would be any similarity to what the star I belonged to said at the time...and guess what...THERE WERE NO SIMILARITIES...ever since then my life never overlapped with that in the star I belonged to! (I use the verb "belonged" because I now belong to Jesus Christ)

...so I would like Astrologers and Christians to explain their views on Astrology.

Do it in love please!

I was driving on the freeway today.
My car has a little rainbow sticker on it near the rear plate.
A car comes up beside me and beeps the horn.
I look and the man and woman both give me the finger.
As they continued on, I see a religious bumper sticker and one of those fish things on the back of the car.

Do they not realise that behavior like that, is why so many people hate THEM?

I'm very disappointed and disillusioned right now, with religions. Religion claims to be about finding peace and uniting individual with society and humankind in general, YET all I see is it being used to create division among people, for example "Christians are liek wayy better than Muslims!!111!!" and garbage like this. If religion is supposed to be about love and helping other people, why is it only used for the opposite, nationalism and racism and hate in general? Let's say everyone converts to Christianity (nominally) - will some American Christians stop hating Arabs so much? No, because that is human nature, to want to hate and have conflict, religion here is just used as an excuse. If Arabs stopped beheadings, replicated our culture and our treatment of women...there would still be some conflict, maybe racial? National? always something, religion is just an EXCUSE for hate, I find myself disgusted with it, anyone else? By the way, I'm not atheist or anything..just an idea.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal's_Wager

Interestingly, the Buddhists have made a similar argument, and said that believing in karma and rebirth brings tangible rewards now even if they are not ultimately valid.

The idea of the effect on the now is what seems to elude Pascal... and not surprisingly, as his standpoint is apologetic. The problem with wagering on God's existence is that you may then find yourself bound to belief systems whose tenets have caused war and strife as long as mankind's been around. What god you wager on carries some weight, as well.

But if you wager on no God, you are placing faith in reason and freeing yourself of the tenets of organized religion. You are also furthering good by not contributing to mindless and exclusive clubs.

In addition, a benevolent god would judge a person by merit, not belief. Commanding faith and rewarding it, but burning non-believers... that's a strange god, and only one that humans could cook up.
