I support gay marriage. It doesn't effect anyone but the people who get married. You're absolutely right.

I agree. Marriage, gay or straight, is no ones business other than the people getting married. As for the word "marriage" being stated as a man and a women being joined, I think that is such a cop-out. Then why not come up with another word that means a women and a women, or a man and a man being joined and giving this very large group of humanity the same rights and privileges that straight people have. The government should keep their noses out of this and trying fixing real problems, that the national debt, or the war on terror, or the problems in Louisiana.

I don't think that marriage should be a particular legal issue. I do think tax breaks or other economic advantages should be given to heads of households where minor or other dependents are present. But why should you get a cheaper airline ticket because you are in a committed relationship and the next guy is not?
I do think marriage should be a religious institution. Beyond that, I don't think it has any standing in law.
Up until the middle of the 1900s it was mainly a means by which men owned women for breeding and housekeeping.
This is just a wedge issue used by the rabid right to distract people from the real problems of this country.

It has to do with society....a society that okays things that are sinful, brings destruction and God's wrath upon itself. (Look at examples in the Bible, and in Louisiana right now.) An earthquake will most likely hit San Fransisco and Massachusetts will probably have some thing happen to it for their lack of morals. Our society (American) is already corrupt....Marriage is a sacred thing given from God to man+woman. If we defile that, we sin greatly...He calls homosexuality an abomination. That's a strong word. So, that is why some Christians oppose it.
Now, I think they can have some legal document that gives them rights as a "couple." But don't call it marriage!!!!!
Edit: 2 days after I posted this....CNN.com - Light quake rolls San Francisco Bay area - Aug 3, 2006*
Stay tuned...more to come...

For Starter, gay cannot reproduce.
It is not my business about how you live your life, but when you changing the definition of marriage, then that is stepping over the line.
Gays want to be together, fine, but do not call that a marriage.
calll it companionship, partnership, but not a marriage.
Please do not feel offended, I respect gays to have rights, but
do respect ours, by gays marriage, you are changing my definition of marriage to fit your life style.

People can't handle minding their own business. They think that if gays get married it will somehow rub off on them and they will turn gay too.Paranoia and ignorance followed by thinking that their views are the only right views is what motivates their irrational behavior on this.

I still am trying to see why it is wrong to allow same-sex marriage. What right do those who oppose have to hinder the rights of same-sex people to get married?
I support same-sex marriage
