i agree. there is way too much hatred between religions, especially here on answers. about half the questions i see are offensive in some way. the other night there was someone talking about cannabalism towards people of a certain religion, it was sickening, after he had said that, he said "jesus is lord". these days it seems like there is no use in claiming a religion because we can all see where all religion is going, especially christianity. Christians claim to love everyone, but then they are the main ones who are hating others. i mean, its bad enough that these people are putting down other races and religions, but then saying they are doing it in the name of god. they are pretty much going against their own religion. Blessed Be.

Your not an athiest? Then isnt your whole question sort of... hypocritical?(Im not sure if thats the best word) If your not an athiest that mean you recognise there is some form of god/gods, meaning you have a religion. So you saying your digusted by religion means you hate religeon yet you follow it. Im sure you meant something else but just in case... I dont use my religion as a reason to hate. In fact my religion tells me to love my neighbor, so i do. I dont hate anyone and i try hard not to hurt anybody although sometimes that cannot be avoided since im only human. The problem is that there are a lot of religeons that all believe diffrently. As you might notice... Islam can be a very violent religion in which it is allowed to purposly kill yourself for a cause that you think is godly. Christians are strictly against suicide and we belive that suicide will send you to hell. Also, true Christians do not hate anyone, not even arabs. We are supposed to love each other. And quite frankly im a pretty laid back dude and i really try to avoid conflicts. I cant speak for the rest of us because im only me. But i really dont want to hate and fight other people just because its "human nature". Id rather eat cheeseburgers, and listen to old school metal with some people. Wouldnt you?

I've had the priviledge of travelling a lot of places, I've been in a lot of different churches, and met a lot of different 'Christians.' And let me say, I am right on board with you mate. What I see happening (and this is just my own personal perspective) is that Christianity is becoming more and more of a culture than anything else. A fad, a team to cheer for, a show to watch. Now, this is going to come out cold, but my biggest peeve is with the American Christian culture. It's the loudest and the most segregating I have seen yet. Please don't get me wrong, I have met many wonderful American Christian missionaries whose only aim is to love and serve the world as Jesus loved and served them. They are humble, accepting, and a blessing to know. But too many times I have met Western Missionaries who insist that their western ways are the true ways of the Bible, they won't work with anyone else who won't do things the 'American' way. There are others I know who have been in foreign countries for decades and haven't so much as learnt the basics of the local language, let alone try and understand the backgrounds of their culture. But there comes a shift in the tide: Eastern countries are growing in Christian populations at an incredible speed. South Korea sends out more missionaries per capita than any other country (including us). It will be interesting to see how those eastern ripples affect us western Christians.

Maybe you are so disillusioned because of the religions you are looking at, take a look at all the religions, they are not all that way. But most will put their bible down and grab a gun if it came to war and kill their own brother, spirital brother that is. There is one religion who wont pick up a gun at all to go murder other people. Just one that I know of. Now that is real love ....the kind of brotherly love that was really talked about in the bible. The best thing for you to do is not to dwell on what you cant change, but dwell on what you can do and take action yourself. Not all christians hate, just the majority who claim to be such do

Some religions like Neopaganism are very tolerant, but most are not. It really depends on the person. Not every Christian hates gays. Just like not every white person hates black people. It all depends on how they were raised to think; which can obviously be changed at some point, but you get what I'm saying. But anyway, I agree with you. People claim to be "good, loving Christians" or whatever, but some are so racist and prejudice. You make an excellent point. You should bring it up next time you have a debate!

I'm sure you've heard the saying "Be the change you want to see in the world." I do this by not being judgement and not even being religious. However, I am very spiritual. My family and I have a personal relationship with the LORD and no where in the bible does it permit us to divide ourselves, but rather to walk in unity. Never to hate, but to love, never to compare one another, but rather to "esteem others higher than ourselves." Philippians 2:3,4. All people have fallen short of God's glory so although we are to love one another, God is the one who we worship because of Who He is. You've got to begin and live it personally. Only when we get internal peace can we share anything good with the rest of the people. That personal thing I think is often skipped by "religion" and "religious, ritualistic" people. Peace.

Your sites are set too low, dear. People are all human. As long as you depend on other fallible human beings you will be disappointed.
God is the only perfect being. You should use Jesus for your example. Set your eyes on Him and follow Him. Don't use other human beings who are in the same circumstances as you are, as your example.
Perfection is in the next life--eternity. Living in this world is a training class so that we can learn NOT to do all the things you mention.
Very few of us have reached or attained perfection, or even close. And everyone who calls himself/herself a Christian is not necessarily a follower of Christ any more than calling one's self a millionaire makes one rich.

I am very disillusioned myself. First, my beliefs. I guess you could call me a Christian Taoist. I think most religions have grains of truth in them, but fail to see that we are all cut from the same cloth, all members of the same family of man.
I think most religions were the inspiration of divine thinking, but got all messed up, so that people inevitably worshipped the messenger, not the message.
The Golden Rule, in various forms, is the cornerstone of most world religions, yet mankind still points fingers, mocks, degrades and imprisons.

Forget about all the religions. They are all old and outdated. Lets get together and start a whole new religion of love, peace and freedom. Remember, your religion is what you believe. I, for that matter, believe that only religion is "Humanity" and I would only like to be a "Human".

i think that you got the fact that it is human nature to want to hate right.but i do not hink that religion is "an excuse " for hate.for instance, christianity has countless times in the bible given an exhortation for people to love one another.but this is not left merely to human will, for us to master love we need super-natural power if we are going to love self-leesly.for the otrher reigions i do not know how theyt deal with this, but for christians, love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.it is a natural outcome of submission to Gods will.ignore all those hating, vitriolic extremists,it is possible to develop love from firmly anchoring on religion.
