It would have been difficult for Jesus to be Muslim because unless I'm mistaken, there were no Muslim's in Jesus' time. But even if there were, Jesus was a Jew and was also Jewish in religion. "He went to the temple on Sabbath, and stood up to read, as His custom was." Muslims don't keep the Sabbath.

As far as the meaning of the word, "muslim," if it means someone who submitted his will to God, then He could've been identified that way. (The same way someone could be called a brunette if they have brown hair.)

Jesus was a Jew. A muslim might be defined as what you mentioned above but the word didn't come into existance until Islam formed as a religion and that was way after Jesus so he couldn't really have been a Muslim.

A muslim means someone who accepts Prophet Mohamed as a messenger sent from god and accepts that god exists and believe in him alot and prays 5 times a day and read the Holy Qur'an.
P.S. Jesus came before Islam.

Muslim is not a nationality or a job, you can say Im a Muslim when u obey God rules, we can all be Muslims if we obey God...
and one of the most important rules is to belive in God will and belive that he is the only God no more else and to believe IN ALL THE PROPHETS.

well if you take religion out and just use the words as adjectives I would say yes.. In arabic it would be muslim, I dont know what the jewish or hebrew word for "one who submits his will to God" is.. but use that appropriate adjective.. So Yes he is a muslim if he is "one who submits his will to only God"... Did they speak hebrew or arabic back then or was is some form of aramaic? I dont know.. but anyone, be he jewish, christian, muslim, or other who "submits his will only to God" is a muslim if you are using arabic adjectives... get it?

I don't really know. Every society has different perceptions of who/what Jesus was. The muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, but they do not believe he was the most significant prophet like the Christians. Of course, they believe that Mohammed was the most significant prophet.

if jesus was muslim then why christianity came before islam. jesus came before prophet mohannad. jesus must have propagated the message of islam rather that christianity.

quran says prophet mohhamad is the only son of god(allah), it means jesus was not his son.
hence proved that jesus was not muslim. he can be of any other religion . be it christianity, jewish, hinduism. but certainly not muslim.
otherwise quran is wrong.

"And I [Muhammad] am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah in Islam," (39:12).

either this paragraph of quran is wrong or the people's belief that jesus is muslim is wrong. you all are a better judge.

Jesus taught that he was god's son(john 10:36, Matt.16:15-17),
Jesus was a jew, and the defintion of jew means of hebrew descent, or others who have been converted to Judisam... don't get confused though, Jesus didn't convert to Judisam, he taught the work of his father, God

Islam literally means submission Contrary to popular belief, Islam WAS NOT INTRODUCED BY the Prophet Muhammad (!)Muhammad was in fact the last prophet in a line of prophets - the first of whom was Prophet Adam . . , youngest and most starkly monotheistic of major world religion The Arabic word islam literally means "surrender" or "submission" As the name of the religion it is understood to mean "surrender or submission to God" One who has thus surrendered is a Muslim In theory, all that is necessary for one to become a Muslim is to recite sincerely the short statement of faith known as the shahadah,...

Only in the same sense that if Christianity is the True Religion, then Christians are the true Muslims while Mohammedans (those who self identify as Muslims) are not.
