But seriously, I don't beieve in that whole christian heaven, but I just discovered this group and they are pretty good. They seem like a more nature loving , maybe druid, pagan, --great stuff though. When I create my heaven, I will let their music play. Well, I am letting it play now aren't I?

I thought this was one of the most important teachings that Christ left behind. Why don't more people practice this ideal?

He says it constantly... instead of saying a curse word, or some other word, he says every possible form of the Lord's name... I know he doesn't mean to upset me. he's my best friend, but he's not very religious like me... it just really bothers me when he says it though...

Why do some peopl think this? God DID NOT create the devil. He created a perfect angel called Lucifer. Lucifer, in turn, made a perfect devil out of himself. Lucifer tempted a perfect man and woman to sin. When they did so, they opened a floodgate of evil.
Do you still believe God created devil, evil, and the likes?

I do. They charge money for their auditing courses. They harass former members and critics. And their beliefs were written by a science fiction writer who got busted by the police numerous times.

This is a response to a question about fundies accepting evolution:

Science has always proved God's word in the Bible. Science supports the Bible. Evolution is not science, it is a aethiestic religion.

Does science REALLY prove anything in the Bible as being true, or is this just the typical fundie behavior of bending the truth?

Seriously, someone asked if we knew that there was NO evidence of a worldwide flood. I sent this and they seemed to feel it was not evidence. What is it then and if you know a link that gives possible evidence please post it.

The word witch has different connotations for different people. I find I use it more among my Pagan friends than non-Pagan. I think the word witch needs to be reclaimed and used without fear, but what do others think? What is the destiny of the word? Do you feel proud calling yourself a witch, or does it make you feel uneasy? I hope one day we can use this word like we use it amongst our Pagan friends and not feel ashamed, guilty, or nervous. What are your opinions?

Why do pro lifers thrive on saving an unborn from being killed in the womb, while pro choicers thrive on killing it because it's not consider human life yet? Why do pro lifers usually not agree with stem cell research, they wanna save the unborn but what about saving those who are born? Why do some pro choicers not agree with stem cell research even though they agree with murdering a human... oh my bad it's not yet a human right?

I mean, conceited that we humans are, our "religions" claim that universe exists, simply because God wanted to forge humans in his image (we are such MCPs, God is a "he" Noone says God could be "she" or better, "it" because God can not be bound in the usual parameter of male or female), or whatever.

I don't really know any major religions (Tom Cruise is a dick) that say that God might have created life on more than one planets.

If we ever come across an intelligent life form that is more advanced and developed than ours, WILL THAT BE THE END OF RELIGIONS?

Or would the missionaries and maulanas rush to their planet to spread the word of GOd/Allah?

And please tell me if you're an atheist, agnostic, deist, theist, etc.

I'm a philosophical theist, and I'd say my ultimate commitment is to "life."

So as not to contradict what their religion says they try and balance and find ways to justify what science says in relation to their religion. For example, evolution.

Evolution has a myriad of facts and proven scientific evidence for its existence. So much so that Christians, being unable to deny it, have absorbed it into their philosophy. Genesis clearly states how God created people (creationism) yet when confronted with scientific evidence they cannot challenge they absorb it and say "Oh yeah, well, evolution is how it happened, but only because God made it that way" When will you finally admit you are wrong?

This is what I see.
One materialistic guy loses everything.
He is suffering from a new him try emerge.
He tells others to ignore his materialistic self.
He perform rituals with "fight club" members and brings them to a level of one body with a purpose.
The new him lives in the now and knows what it means to contribute and have fun.
He(pitt) forces the physical(norton) into experiencing this reality with a knowledge of existing on multiple levels of existence.
The chaos they seem to employ is nothing more than a symbol of complete freewill.
When he shoots himself he has actually emerged as the original iin charge but both at work.
Why they try to eliminate the debt-----?
It seems they don't need money to be their source of happiness and want to see what people will do when others contribute out of like dreams being accomplished.
Just a theory, but it works. ;)

The question above was an answer given to one of my questions.

I'm straight, atheist and humanist. Two of my best friends are gay. They have been married together for years now. One of them works daily with children and would make a great parent. They tried to adopt a child, and were granted a child after years of waiting. In the end they decided to NOT adopt the child, because they were affraid the child would get too many problems in a Christian society having two male parents.
An act of pure love for a child they hadn't even met. Sadly enough the Christian society makes people make these horrible decisions.

My question: Isn't it funny, harsh and ignorant that Christians truly think if people don't believe in the Bible it also doesn't affect their daily lives?

The answer to this should be interesting. I expect the usual trash from people but it would be interesting to receive heart felt responses from people who actually contemplate the question.

I mean it's a cute story and all. God lovingly murders everyone on the planet except for one family and, two of every animal on the planet (somehow the kangaroos made it from Australia to the middle east huh?)
But in fact, that's all it is, a story. No evidence of a worldwide flood exists. None. I know some of you keep chriping about "plenty of evidence" yet when pressed, you seem to have something else to do or someplace to go. That's because you know it's a lie.
One fact that you all conveniently avoid is that the amount of water, on the ENTIRE surface of the earth, including the frozen poles, is insufficient to flood the entire landmass of the earth. In fact there would be only be a loss of about 2% of the shoreline over the planet.
And you also conveniently forget that any ship so described would destroy itself under it's own weight let alone survive the smallest wave. But hey, continue to delude (pun intended) yourselves about this fantasy. It's all you have after all...

What is the point? I can provide mountains of evidence for evolution, but in my experience creationists simply won't read a word of it anyway. They'll use a cheap hand-wave to dismiss it, but not actually READ it.

Is their faith really that weak?

PS: here's LOAD of evidence, not that any creationist is going to bother to try to understand it.

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/

PPS: before any creationist tries to say that they understand evolution but dismiss it anyway, provide proof that you understand it. Give me a brief description of what evolution posits, how it's supposed to work, and whether it makes any statements about theology at all. Don't claim to know what you're talking about. PROVE it, and not with a cute & paste job. Your own words, please.

By declaring the Bible "inerrant," does fundamentalist Christianity break the 1st commandment (below), placing the words of The Bible as a God above God himself and making the Bible constrain God into only acting in the ways and times described in it? Explain your thoughts.

"I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD, WHO BROUGHT YOU OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT, OUT OF THE HOUSE OF BONDAGE. YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME." (Exodus 20:2-3)
