I mean, conceited that we humans are, our "religions" claim that universe exists, simply because God wanted to forge humans in his image (we are such MCPs, God is a "he" Noone says God could be "she" or better, "it" because God can not be bound in the usual parameter of male or female), or whatever.

I don't really know any major religions (Tom Cruise is a dick) that say that God might have created life on more than one planets.

If we ever come across an intelligent life form that is more advanced and developed than ours, WILL THAT BE THE END OF RELIGIONS?

Or would the missionaries and maulanas rush to their planet to spread the word of GOd/Allah?

The end of religion will be when the second coming turns out to be the aliens that came to earth thousands of years ago and were worshiped as gods. They created us by speeding up our evolutionary process by adding some of their DNA to that of an ape woman and created test tube babies. When they land right in front of the white house and tell them all that they are the bible god. Then they will teach all of us about god the creator the source of all life and consciousness that initiates the big bangs all over the universe along with evolution and the process of how life recycles and evolves. Then they will teach us the laws of creation and nature, which is the true religion.

NO! Jesus Christ died Once for all! Unless you are a Jew, the chosen, you must be adopted by God. So those who aren't Jews would be as alien as real live aliens. So if there were aliens, i have to say, for Christianity, it would be a celebration because they would have the chance to know Christ as well. and of course, the amazing thing to find would be seeing the True God on their planet and see how he has revealed himself to them.
don't think i believe in aliens or anything. but of they were out there, it would make sense that they would be much more advanced because God said in Genesis that if he allowed man to continue speaking the same language that they could do anything. so if there was no language separation for these aliens by God, they would be very advanced.
I don't know what Islam has to say on the subject, but i don't think Christians would find it all that disconcerting. I wouldn't anyway.

Well being that we in no way can yet determine if there is life other than ours out there has made religion what it is so far. If life were discovered I don't think it would change religion because people who believe in god would just say god made the aliens to. It would definitely spark a gigantic increase in the number of religions based on alien life though.

Are we so egocentric that we can't accpet the potential for other life in the Universe? Science has determined statistically and by rules governing probability that we are in fact not alone. Just because we haven't had contact doesn't mean that they're not out there in the vastness of space and time/dimension. I am Unitarian Universalist and I don't believe our faith would end as a result of Alien contact...many others may/might be shaken to the core for their selfish self-centered denial of the existence of other intelligent life in the universe. Suggest you check the Uncommon Denomination out at WWW.UUA.ORG. PEACE!

I think that some religions might change, but that JudeoChristianity would not. I think you're right that missionaries would probably be sent. My faith believes that humans have souls and are made in the image of God in ways that other creatures are not, so it would be an interesting question there,,, but in any case my faith believes that all life and all of creation should be respected as a gift of God. If someone you really loved and thought a lot of gave you something you would treasure it, no?

I think that:

- there would be plenty of new sects rising, that would worship these Extraterrestrials;

- that already existing religions would find the correct "explanations" that would neutralise any intrinsic incoherence into their belief-frame (as usual);

- that many people would get mad, commit suicide, react in a self-destructive way;

- that only balanced Atheists & Non-Theists will be able to pragmatically handle such a new relation with non-earthian beings without losing their mind.

Gosh...

I hope all these patterns don't block any hypothetical peaceful extraterrestrials to establish contacts with us humans...

Due to the ever increasing rate of global warming, 50% of all animal and plant species are expected to become extinct during the next 100 years. Likewise, 80% of all human beings are also expected to become extinct during this period. Unless aliens manage to use religion in some way that will encourage us to save our planet and ourselves, then there is no point to their visiting us. As for religion, any religion, all religions: they are all absolutely pointless if they cannot unite us in taking the dramatic steps that must be taken if humanity is to survive at all.

Astronomers are placing out to locate planets in different image voltaic structures the place the situations are similar to those all of us be responsive to that help life. it is basically obtainable that there is clever life obtainable. i think of it is an conceited assumption that the Earth is the only life-helping planet whilst the universe is so super that we basically don't be responsive to for particular what's obtainable. in spite of everything, interior the midsection an prolonged time, the Church taught that the Earth became the centre of the universe, and that the sunlight revolved around the Earth. all of us be responsive to now that that may not the case, with the aid of fact technological know-how has proved in any different case.

Aliens, or no aliens there is no difference to me. G-d never said he had no other planets or peoples.
C.S. Lewis had a fantastic scifi trilogy that supposed G-d did have other planets and peoples. I think the first one is called Out of the Silent Planet.

The universe is a large space. To assume there is life only on one planet in one solar system would be arrogant on humanity's part. If your religion is right for one planet, why not for all? If it is lacking, why believe at all?
