Why do some peopl think this? God DID NOT create the devil. He created a perfect angel called Lucifer. Lucifer, in turn, made a perfect devil out of himself. Lucifer tempted a perfect man and woman to sin. When they did so, they opened a floodgate of evil.
Do you still believe God created devil, evil, and the likes?

He created Lucifer, but not with the intent of him becoming evil.

God created us and often times WE rebel. Same thing happened to Lucifer.

if you beleive that the Christian God is all knowing, all good or cannot mkae a mistake, then how could his creation become anything other than he was meant to be? He is not human, so how did he even get free-will, which was a gift to mankind, not angels. If God is all knowing, he must have known Lucifer's turning prior to the creation of him.But if he went forward and created him anyway, did he not in some way endorse what would occur, have knowingly created a devil?

Although an Atheist from a philosophical standpoint personally I do not believe Lucifer did anything wrong. In his major act of tempting Adam and Eve he gave them the choice between good and evil, and what value is there in good when there is no evil as an alternative? I think we would be bored in paradise, the struggles and pains and disappointments make the accomplishments better and more valued. The world is what we have made it, some think it better or worse but at least it is ours.
And as for trying to be God, why shouldn't he have attempted that? What rule was there known to him that God should be the only one of his kind, the ten commandments came not only afterwards, but given to men, not angels, do they even apply? Why should he have assumed he would not be as capable given the chance and the power, or that the two beings could not have been equal caretakers of the universe? should he have been merely contempt in a lesser role, and see mankind blind to choices available and done nothing? I think he was perfectly reasonable in his actions. As for later on, mostly new Testament stuff I think things get less true to the original depiction which is what i am using for my argument. But feel free to comment on this to me, as long as you don't preach that I need God.

God created everything according to the Bible... even "evil". Lucifer is Not the devil... it's a reference to the Babylonian King in Isaiah.
Lucifer, in history, is a pagan god... Son of Venus (The Morning Star *gasp*)

But, if you reference Lucifer as the Devil... his title being The Morning Star (Or Son of the Morning Star)... why then does it give Jesus this title in Revelation?

If the man and woman were Perfect... they wouldn't have Chosen to do evil.... And, since they were Innocent and without the Knowledge of Good vs Evil... how did they Choose to do evil without actually knowing it was evil? Seems God punished them and ALL of mankind for being the way he made them... ignorant.

Do you believe that God created all things in the heavens and on the earth? Do you believe that God is perfect and can make no mistake? Do you believe that God sees all futures and has given mankind prophecies (such as prophecies to Moses, to Ezekiel and about the birth of Christ)? Do you believe in the all mighty power of God?

Then God made Lucifer knowing that he would turn against him and yet let him do so and then to corrupt mankind. Therefore he both did and did not make the devil.

The more important question is why did he choose to allow this to happen or did he even plan it this way from the beginning? No priest, preacher, rabbi, bishop or nun has ever been able to answer that question. They do not even comprehend it's meaning or implications.

God did create Lucifer and Lucifer turned evil. In a sense, God did create the future devil.

Biblical reference: Isaiah 45:7

Of course, it depends on which version of the English language bible you're reading. I thinks there's something like 25 different versions, all of which claim to be "the truth".

http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/

http://www.skypoint.com/~waltzmn/Versions.html

Anyway, the Isaiah reference pretty much says: I am the light and I am the dark. I am the good and I am the evil, I am all things. Without me there is nothing.

Now I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but that sounds to me like your god is assuming responsibility for *EVERYTHING*, past, present and future..... good and bad..... up and down..... left and right..... in and out..... creating and destroying..... because without your god's intervention there would be NOTHING..... zilch..... nada.....

Why do you find it so hard to accept this? Do you believe that god created mankind in his image? I believe it's a spiritual image and not a physical image. Since mankind is capable of such horrific things, and if we were created in your god's spiritual image, then your god is no better than the humans he/she/it created.

You believe in a god who killed his only son.
I believe there might be a more compassionate god out there.

You believe everyone should be like you.
I believe you have an absolute right to be different from me.

You want the world to share your beliefs.
I believe in free will.

I'm sorry you think I'm a heathen because I don't subscribe to the fairy tales espoused by the bible.

By the way, of all the English bibles available, which one is the "ABSOLUTE TRUTH"? The one and only definitive version. And how do you know this? And why the need for all the other versions?

God created Lucifer - so he created the Devil in that way. If he was so perfect, then how did he go bad? If God created everything, then God also created evil, even if you want to say that it came through a supposedly perfect angel. It still started with God's creation.

If God created everything, and if God is all-knowing and all-powerful, then it would not be possible for Lucifer to rebel without God's implicit approval.

This is a very difficult concept for Christians to wrap their minds around, so they usually reject it as being out-and-out ridiculous.

But in order to accept that The Devil exists without God's implicit approval, then you also have to believe that God is NOT all-knowing or that God is not all-powerful.

Side note: The Jewish religion (from which Christianity originated) actually believes that only humankind has Free Will. The Jews believe that angels don't have Free Will--that angels are only instruments of God's will.

I have heard differing interpretations of what Satan/Lucifer/The Devil represents in Jewish theology, and one interpretation is that there IS no such thing as The Devil, that The Devil is only a "symbol" for humankind's own "evil inclinations." Another interpretation is that Lucifer is an instrument of God's will, in that s/he exists to give humankind choices (bad choices!) in which to exercise their own Free Will.

In any case, whether you look at it from a Christian, Jewish, or Muslim POV, certain things in all religions don't seem to make sense, and that's when our ministers, priests, and imams usually tell us that it's a matter of Faith. (Rabbis, OTOH, tend to encourage us to argue it out, even if we never reach any definitive conclusions.)

The Bible, sometimes, is beyond the understanding of men. There are many paradox, and may sound so ironical to us. C'mon, God is the wisest existence, and how can we understand this with our limited wisdom?
Well, God did create the devil, or you can put it in another way.. God allowed Lucifer to become a devil.. As in the ways of life, goodness and badness needs to co-exist for one to know the difference between each. With no bad how can anyone make choices to be good?

If Lucifer made himself into a devil, and God made Lucifer, then God made the devil. Obviously God's creation -Lucifer - was not a perfect angel, therefore God's creation (Lucifer) was not perfect or else who would have never become evil.

O.K. dingleberry, I don't think you'll understand this, but your question brings to light another inconsistancy in the wonderful magical bible you people love. Isn't Man supposed to be the only being with free will? What happened to Lucifer and uh, 1/3rd of the other angels as well? They must have had some free will, or maybe this is all just a big fat fairytale. good grief, you are a lost cause
