Speaks? I don't know. Communicates? Yes. I experienced God when I was seventeen. No message, no mission, no assignment, no sense of being special (just the opposite, NO sense of being special afterward).

Experienced everything, everywhere, everywhen, for what we later figured was about five (5) hours. My body may have stopped existing, and I was certainly not conscious of an "I" or identity or body of any sort. It was wonderful.

Went to psychologist and he basically told me that if I did have a psychotic break that it was certainly one with only positive effects, and that he really couldn't see a way to help me at present but if I ever need to talk about anything, to feel free to come back.

A cat-scan was negative.

I don't (never have) taken drugs, alcohol (got drunk twice in high school, that was it. Just don't like the taste), smoke (anything), and have a solid education in science, logic, philosophy.

I have a career(one I love and enjoy), and a wonderful wife (11 years), and a daughter (8 months) who is getting the benefits of all I learned from the experience and is learning to talk, walk, open drawers, undo shoes, all at this age or earlier.

He changed my life utterly for the better, and yet I've never joined a religion or group, never written a book or set myself up as a guru or "master". Mostly I've searched for people like me who aren't trying to sell something but actually experienced God.

I've been successful once. He was content to just live his life, while I wanted to know more.

For years, I searched for a way back. You have no idea what sorrow it is to feel what I felt and then slowly become more distant every day again. It is truly a fall from grace. Yet, I would trade it for nothing on earth.

Still, I have my reason for remaining on Earth. My wife. And now another, my daughter. I may, as they often say, be living my final lifetime here, but I wouldn't trade it. I didn't leave during that event for a reason, was sure, even though there was no message, that I had to come back.

I know why, now.

Absolutely! The Lord states in His word that He does not change.

He directs and speaks to us by His Holy Spirit. The bible states these things-

"...everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." John 18:37

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches..." Revelation 2:7

"However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come." John 16:13

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."
John 14:16-17

God has never stopped being a part of the lives of His people. If you have received Jesus as Savior, then you have the capability of hearing the Lord speak to you and direct you in your everyday life, as His Spirit dwells in you. Learning to hear His 'still, small voice', takes a time and deliberation.

God never stopped speaking to man ever since creation. He speaks to every man and doesn't exclude unbelievers at all; in fact, God searches unbelievers and speaks to them more than He does with those who listen to his voice and become His own children. No body no matter how much he hardens his heart, will those who don't believe deny the fact that deep within their heart they sense that move in their conscious or their souls and hear the voice of God's words calling for them to restore their precious spirits to the glory it had before the fall. Paul in Roman 1:19 22, says,

"19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Nobody can be with excuse during judgment day. Nobody could say I have never heard of you my lord and no body preached to me about Jesus.

I don''t believe that God ever spoke to anybody, or inspired anyone to write anything. If God wanted to communicate with man, I do not believe He would only do so through select individuals. As you see, the world is confused as to which is the true religion. I believe a perfect God would not create such confusion if He wanted man to hear from Him. No, I believe, all past claims of messages from God are phony.

Sure I do. I wouldn't want to move forward on something spiritually delicate without prayer and study and listening for God's voice. I wouldn't want to be held accountable for forcing god's hand or being out of the scope of His will. Jesus prayed in the Garden, "Not mt will Father, but THINE be done." His flesh was warring with His Spirit for obvious reasons; he knew that crucifixion was a horrible way to die. But, He couldn't very well commit suicide for a sacrifice, so He had to speak with and listen for the Father's voice to comfort Him and remind him of His purpose and what it would mean to mankind and the Kingdom.

I grew up in church and went faithfully 4-5 times a week, tried to do no wrong yet never once did God ever say "hey jennifer blah blah blah" not once, I prayed and meditated for years, yet never did I hear anything at all. Sometimes I would make up conversations in my head pretending that it was God, but it was always me talking... maybe someone else has better answers, would be interested to hear...

I think God gives man the knowledge to see him speak though the world. But I don't think God himself speaks to us anymore because I believe we're in the end times and God removes himself from earth for the end times.

I certainly hope not, although George Bush thinks God speaks to him. (He said God told him to have the war against Iraq) As for reading the Bible, it is a traumatic experience with all the instructions to hate and kill. I prefer to believe in a truly, "all loving, unmoved mover".

Unlike any other creature, I know right from wrong. Why are we alone in this knowledge? In all the hundreds of millions of years that species have had to evolve, why have none evolved to have a conscience and knowledge of right and wrong? Why are we so rare among all the creatures that have ever lived? Call it God or call it conscience, but something "speaks" to me every time I have to choose between doing something right or wrong! I think it speaks to you, too, in those moments.

I don't think the Christian God speaks to man or woman any more. I am not sure that he truly ever did. Now my Gods speak all the time to men and women.
