The Bible is a nearly impenetrable compilation of 2000 years' worth of mythology, poetry, inspired ranting, history, pseudohistory, ethnic propaganda, wisdom literature, eroticism, apocalyptic, etc. Telling a nonbeliever to "read the Bible" is about the most moronic thing you could possibly do. In fact, it's fairly obvious to me that anyone remotely familiar with the texts would never suggest such a thing. I'd say "read it yourself, and decide how you would react as an unbeliever if you saw some of this cr*p for the first time." And to every frikkin' question, some nutjob has to say "read the Bible." Argh!
