Who said that orginally? I mean about the banana? Was it Mae West? And who was she talking about? I was just thinking it and was going to use it to answer a question when I realized I was stealing it. And why cant we post a question in two places. This one is in Politics and Government too.

table tipping is a way of talking to spirits. I did it for the first time today with 7 other people and it was very intense...and I am absolutely convinced that it was real. I want to do it again with a different group of people to make sure. Any suggestions of what type of table to get or tips or stories about your own experiences, good or bad?

The earth was not made in seven days :O :)
Genesis 2:5
5 When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up (This means there was no plants of the field!)—for the Lord elohim had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, 6 and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground(this is a glacier in one part of the land or maybe even in many parts of it)— 7 then the Lord elohim formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living
This was before the creation of planets and animals! we read on in 2
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19 So out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Animals made before man!!!☻i will give the link..

I heard that Catholics beleive that by arrival of Jesus and by accepting him, the righteous jews (Chosen people) turned into christians and the current jews no longer have the chosen status. is it true? What is the catholic church's view?
Does anyone know what is the stance of other sects on this issue ( e.g. Protestants, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormins and others )
I would really appreciate if you could just provide the official stance of the relating Churches on the matter and mention when you are only stating your opinion and not facts.

As Christians (or other religions) we have a basic responsibility to insure that every person has a consistent and quality ethic of life from conception until natural death. Some argue that stem cell research kills unborn children, and naturally murder is the worst encroachment on life. Others argue that those cells are made in a petri dish and would not have naturally become children, and there is a moral obligation to insure the best quality of life for the elderly by trying to cure or treat debilitating diseases. What do you think?

As a believer in Jesus I have looked up the word TAO and it said it was the essence of anything. It is a word that describes something that I feel...I feel the essence of life emmanating from the world around me...as if Jesus is more esoteric than we know...I seem to feel His light of His shining face pouring from Him as a nectar of Heaven....it seems as if He is everywhere...yet we are oblivious...or vaguely aware....yet I feel someone could plead with Him and he would let me drink His essence....as if its His karma....like an ocean in a cup in my hands...any ancients or mystics who can advise me or add to this ?

I see the statement alot that the Catholic church was the first Christian church and it was founded by Peter based on the isolation and interpretation of the verse that says "on this rock shall I found my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it"

1) Werent the Christians established by the apostolic church (the real first christian church) being killed off by the Roman empire decades before the Catholic church came into existance?

2) If that verse meant that everyone was to follow Peter, why would Christ just say this outright to the disciples? Why did he scold them for arguing over who was firstt and most important? He could have just said Peter.

3) If Peter was the 'rock', didntt the gates of hell prevail against him when he denied Christ three times afterwards

4) If the Pope is infallible, and history shows plenty of papal curruption and scandal, wouldnt that mean that God would have to be corrupt?

Here is my experiment. I would like to do the following:

1) State that I'm an atheist on Yahoo answers.
2) Challenge all the theists most basic beliefs.
3) Attach all their fingers to some sort of electrical generators.
4) Sit back and watch them type endless pages of scripture, thus creating gobs of free energy!
5) Periodically re-incite them by denying the existence of god, satan, everlasting life, hell, blah, blah, blah.

Note: this question is a test bed... lets see if I'm on to something.

The more I read about homosexuality, the more I'm convinced there's nothing wrong with it. Those scriptures saying God doesn't like it were written by fallible men. And back then, men didn't know hardly ANYTHING. They wrote that you shouldn't eat pork, and that's because back then, pork carried many germs that could kill you. It doesn't hold sway in today's society. Maybe the stuff about homosexuality was written with the same kind of fallibility?

My best friend recently came out of the closet. I got in touch with a great organization called PLAG, and now I'm starting to understand it. He'll always be my friend. We've been buddies since we were twelve. And if our church people start being jerks, then I'm out of there.

try and "save" non-Christians because they are concerned about other people....or simply because they desperately need others to justify their beliefs.

THIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN LAS VEGAS, BUT

THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS THERE.

NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO

CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED.

SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE

DEVISED A METHOD TO SORT THE OFFERINGS.

THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN

MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF

ORIGIN AND CASHED IN. THIS IS DONE BY THE CHIP MONKS.

I am an atheist but I always figured there was some sort of historical figure named Jesus at the time. I am reading an article right now that disputes this and it interests me. What do you think and what historical (not the Bible) data do you have that can prove one way or the other.

so why do the christians who happen to support the war, support it? Aren't we killing people? Isn;t that in direct contradiction to what God teaches you? If you do support the war and you say you are a christian, does that mean you really aren't one?

People on Y!A ask a variety of questions, some disigned to provoke a quick, emotional response, but others showing genuine curiosity. Why is this forum the place for these sincere conversations? Why aren't you talking about these things with your pastor/priest/rabbi/imam/guru/etc., with your faith community, with members of your social group? When it comes to your best resource for spiritual guidance and discussion, has a computer in your home or office and the cyber community replaced your family, friends, and fellow citizens? What meaning do you draw from this about your day-to-day life as a believer or non-believer?

It is well established that Adam and Eve had a third son after Cain slew Able and they banished Cain. This son was named Seth and is credited with the generations of Adam and Eve that ensued. Cain went off and bred with wierd races to create a non-pure race. Some say a race of monsters ( read BEOWOLF)
