As a believer in Jesus I have looked up the word TAO and it said it was the essence of anything. It is a word that describes something that I feel...I feel the essence of life emmanating from the world around me...as if Jesus is more esoteric than we know...I seem to feel His light of His shining face pouring from Him as a nectar of Heaven....it seems as if He is everywhere...yet we are oblivious...or vaguely aware....yet I feel someone could plead with Him and he would let me drink His essence....as if its His karma....like an ocean in a cup in my hands...any ancients or mystics who can advise me or add to this ?

TAO MEANS HOW

Tao means how
how things happen
how things work
Tao is the single principle underlying all creation

Tao is God

Tao can not be defined
Tao applies to everything
you can not define something in terms of itself

If you can define a principle, it is not Tao

Tao is priniciple
Creation is a process
that is all there is: principle and process...
how and what

all creation unfolds according to Tao
there is no other way

Tao can not be defined
Tao can be known
the method is meditation, or being aware of what is happening
by being aware of what is happening...
i begin to sense how it is happening
i begin to sense Tao

to become aware of what is happening, i must pay attention
with an open mind
i must set aside my personal prejudices or bias
prejudiced people see only what fits those prejudices

the method of meditation works
principle and process are inseparable
all process reveals the underlying principle
this means that i can know Tao

i can know God

by knowing Tao...i know how things happen

It is said, "The Holy One found it necessary to create all the things in the world so that there should be a central light of awareness with many vessels encircling it."

In response to your question:

The Tao (道, Pinyin: Dào, pronounced "taů" or "daů") is the flow of the energy ("chi") of the universe and keeps the universe in balance and in order. It is the origin of life. It is the law of nature. It is reflected in the changes of seasons, the circle of life, etc. It is discussed at length in "Tao Te Ching", attributed to Lao Tsu. It is based on the understanding that the only constant is change, as reflected in the "I Ching"("The Book of Changes"). Taoism refers to "The Way" or "The Path".

Your commentary is interesting, although I am not sure if many can appreciate the connections that you are making between these two systems of belief.

Tao is the Path. From what I understand it means to let nature takes its course and not to fight it.

BTW.. you know where I can get some good bud? I'll bet you do :)
