The more I read about homosexuality, the more I'm convinced there's nothing wrong with it. Those scriptures saying God doesn't like it were written by fallible men. And back then, men didn't know hardly ANYTHING. They wrote that you shouldn't eat pork, and that's because back then, pork carried many germs that could kill you. It doesn't hold sway in today's society. Maybe the stuff about homosexuality was written with the same kind of fallibility?

My best friend recently came out of the closet. I got in touch with a great organization called PLAG, and now I'm starting to understand it. He'll always be my friend. We've been buddies since we were twelve. And if our church people start being jerks, then I'm out of there.

Believe what you want but regardless of what you think the bible says it is still sickening and is unnatural.

First, the Bible was written by men who were being prompted by God. The Bible clearly states it is an "abomination" with good reason, men and women were meant to be together in a sexual way, not men.

As far as pork goes, wrong again, pigs have no pores so that toxins can escape by sweat. Therefore, those toxins stay in the meat. I don't eat pork for that very reason.

We are to love the sinner and hate the sin. I have gay friends, however, I don't say that their lifestyle of practicing homosexual sex is right, in fact they know how I feel. If they obstain, then they are not committing a sin, just like being a single heterosexual obstains from sex not to sin too. I love my friends as people, but not for their preference.

If you leave your church just because someone objects, you had better rethink that one seriously. You would choose your friend over your faith?

I don't know what you've been reading about homosexuality, but I believe it is from birth (given what I have seen with my friends) they have this preference. That doesn't mean they have to act on it. When you deal with organizations run by gays, of course they'll tell you how wonderful it is, what do you expect them to say?

There is certainly an agrument to be made for the Bible not being all perfect. That decision is up to you. I believe the best benefit we can get from the Bible are the good lessons and that each and every word of the Bible is not to be taken literally. I have questioned one of the passages that states homosexuality is wrong because it is written right along with laws dictating animal sacrifices to God and similar ridiculous statements. (Of course, these odd passages are just explained away.) However, it leaves me with the idea that there is a lot to question in the Bible. So, I turn to reason and common sense. How could love be wrong between two consenting adults? How could hatred, anger, and violence against this love be the right answer? God would want us to be good, caring people and to love our neighbors. When bringing up the homosexuality argument, I think it is more important to think of how they are good, loving people and that we should be good, loving people along with them, not what some old book has said about them. I'm glad you are so accepting of your friend as there will be many people who are not. Just remember who he is and that will steer your course.

The scriptures were written by men and they were writing from verbal stories that were handed down thru generations in many cases. The reason the bible takes thought and study is that there have been times in history when you could not say some things outright. You had to read between the lines and consider the conditions in place at the time of writing. There are many basic truths in the bible but some things need a bit of explaining and thinking to understand. There is even a school of thought that Paul was gay based on some of his writings which were not included in the bible.

The scriptures were written by men, but were INSPIRED of God. This means God wouldnt let them write anything that was false; 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness". The Bible said you shouldnt eat pork, but had you read on, you would have discovered that humans are no longer under that law. It means it is okay to eat pork now.

Though the scriptures were written by men, God used man to write down his laws and commandments; much like a business man uses a secretary to dictate his letters, though the secretary writes down the words, the thoughts and ideas are the business man. As regards homosexuality, God strongly expressed his views at Sodom and Gomorrah when He totally obliterated both cities for their depraved lifestyles. They even demanded to have sex with the angels when they came to rescue Lot and his family.

Throughout the centuries God's views has never changed, but man's view has because they constantly seek justification for their wrong doing even if it means criticizing The Supreme Being who made them.

Yes, the Prophets were men... but they were inspired of God. Also, the people who actually wrote the Bible may not have been the Prophets themselves, but rather by scribes hired to write what was said by them... since many of the Prophets were illiterate.... and then... you have the committees that later changed the order and the text of the Bible under King James...

However, it is still the Word of God...

We are the Spirit children of God, placed upon this earth to receive a physical body (which is carnal by nature) and to test us to see if we will do all that God commands. It is not easy for anyone because of the nature of our physical bodies... but then if it was easy... it would not be a real test.

They were not written by ordinary men but men that were inspired by God they were fill with the holy spirit. On the basic of homosexual God words say that man that lies with man will not inherit God kingdom 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

I'm happy that you're doing what you know is right. The bible was written by chauvinistic, homophobic men. It also states that you can't wear clothing of two different materials and that you cannot eat shellfish, and that you cannot judge others. The paradoxical part of this whole thing is that people can choose their clothing, food, and words. But people cannot choose their orientation. I don't know about you, but it sure as hell sounds like a set-up to me.

Maybe. Then again based on the health risk associated with homosexuality and the damage done to the body by the male form in particular, I dont think it was way off.

Woman was made for Man
Not Man for Man
or Woman for Woman(it is a fact that cannot be changed)
But I know some Gay people and are good friends with them
I won't judge them because it's not my decision
God will Judge
