so why do the christians who happen to support the war, support it? Aren't we killing people? Isn;t that in direct contradiction to what God teaches you? If you do support the war and you say you are a christian, does that mean you really aren't one?

It doesn't say "thou shalt not support murder". I think if you don't actually do the killing yourself you're probably OK.......;-)

Seriously though, I wouldn't spend a lot of time analysing it. Religion has always been a mass of contradiction. And in any case I break most of the commandments on a daily basis. I even made some graven images the other day!

Seriously seriously though, I think most people of any religion form their moral code first, then interpret their religion to match that. Suicide bombers are a more extreme example.

The bible also says there a season for all things. There is a time for war and a time for peace. A time for killing and a time for healing, etc, etc, etc. Even Jesus chased the money changers out of the temple with a whip. I agree the New Testament seems pretty passive overall. But I do not think it is written in stone that a Christian needs to be a pacifist.

As a Christian, I don't support the war and take issue with Bush's "Culture of Life" that he supposedly wants to pursue, yet he indulges in war and has the "express lane" in Texas for the death penalty. He's a hypocrite and so are a lot of people who support him. You can't support one thing and not the other. If you want to do these things, then get rid of the "culture of life" thing, and just say what you want.....which is to do whatever you want whenever you want to do it.

Because you don't know what God said, first of all.

Lets see what God says.

Is killing terror leaders wrong?

The Detroit Free Press

A very, very good question found there. Let's see what is again happening: “Suicide attacks push limits when the bombers are kids” – [Michael Matza – Knight Ridder newspapers]. We were all shocked at what happened there. “Palestinian youth believe that if killed fighting for Islam, they will go to heaven and delight in the company of beautiful virgins” – [World Magazine]. And here you see Hussam Abdu, a 16-year-old boy who had that bomb strapped to his body and he gave up. He did not want to die. Well, “The U.S. blocks U.N. Security Council rebuke of Israel. [USA Today, Bill Nichols & Barbara Slavin]. you know, i am absolutely shocked that they're using children to commit suicide in order to promote their terrorism.

A sheik, Ahmed Yassin, trained these children and they put him to death and everyone is complaining now. Wait a minute! Don't you believe the Bible? The Bible says in the Noahic Covenant, “Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by him shall man's blood be shed”, Genesis 9:5,6. Under the Mosiac Covenant, Exodus 20 verse 13, “Thou shall not kill”. The Hebrew there is murder. Turn the page. “He that smites a man so that he dies shall be put to death", Leviticus 24:17.
This man was training these little children to put bombs in their body and this kid says, “They gave me $25 and told me I'd have 72 virgins”. What would a 16-year-old do with them? He probably wouldn't know what to do. How sad. Yet this man who was killed was behind all of this. What did you say, Jesus? In Mark 9:42, “Whosoever shall offend one of these little children that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck and he were cast into the sea.”
Now, that sounds like capital punishment to me. You drop a guy into the sea and he's gone. And the policemen and military men are ministers of God and they bear not the sword in vain, Romans 13:14. That's not for peeling potatoes. I say murderers should be put to death. Even some of these juveniles who are killing everyone around this country.

If you live a life of Old Testament doctrine, YOU:

You live by the.. o[]xxxx[];;;;;;;;;>

You die by the.. o[]xxxx[];;;;;;;;;>

God said it : End of Story.

War is ok if it's self defense. Look to the song Turn,Turn,Turn. In it is lyrics that explain that there is a time and season for some things. Actually, it is in the bible in the wisdom books in Ecclesiastes(after Proverbs). I asked the same question as a kid and it made better sense to me after reading that book.
God helped people in the biblical time- fight and win wars.

It's not the Christians. It's the Catholics. If you see the history of all the wars Christians were involved in, the Catholics started it and dragged everyone else in. Catholicism is not a Christian religion, it's occult and those 800 million ppl are blinded by Satan's Church.

Isn't there war in the bible? Isn't God coming back to slay those who don't believe in him in a war? Wouldn't God stopped the war that's happening now if it wasn't a prophetic? Don't generalize and blame christians for man's greediness and ungodliness. It's not about believers!

Jehovah's Witnesses, who are Christians, realised that and do not participate in wars, as well as being politically neutral. This has large bearing on the general opinion that Witnesses are a sect; which is absolutely untrue.

A better translation is You are not to murder. To answer your question though, I don't support the Iraqi war. I do support going back to Afghanistan but to me, that falls under self defense.

God said, " You shall not murder your brother". You'll note that when Moses killed 3500 of his own for worshipping an idol, he wasn't condemned. The were no longer his brothers
Sanctity of life is more of a western European idea than a middle eastern one.
