People on Y!A ask a variety of questions, some disigned to provoke a quick, emotional response, but others showing genuine curiosity. Why is this forum the place for these sincere conversations? Why aren't you talking about these things with your pastor/priest/rabbi/imam/guru/etc., with your faith community, with members of your social group? When it comes to your best resource for spiritual guidance and discussion, has a computer in your home or office and the cyber community replaced your family, friends, and fellow citizens? What meaning do you draw from this about your day-to-day life as a believer or non-believer?

i think its mostly because #1, its easier to ask strangers who you probably will never ever see, and #2, you get more of a variety of answers, from all sorts of different people. I don't think anyone has ever replaced this for their family, friends and church leaders... i just think its a good place to fellowship and ask questions.

Actually, the original word for church in the new testament was "ekklesia" which means "community" or a "called out assembly". In other words, as a believer in Christ, my church is wherever I can assemble with other believers, which(as silly as it may sound) includes yahoo answers. I still value the importance of assembling with my local community and preacher though. To answer your next question, no, I don't feel that my computer has replaced my family, friends and fellow citizens, as long as I know when to quit and put a limit on the time I spend on here (yahoo answers) I think we all should play responsibly and know when to stop.
