Basic psychology - people don't like their 'belief' systems messed with. Mine was at one point shattered, it nearly devasted me, literally. It's a dangerous thing to mess up soneone's belief system.

I prefer to believe as I do, but still be willing to listen to and be open to others views and the possibility that they could be right, and hope they give me the same respect.

Beause most christian people do not have an open mind to the facts, even when their own holy book gives proof of a life after this one. They want to think in their tiny little minds that they will live eternally in heaven. When in reality if they only knew that no matter what they do, it probably won't happen.
Especially if they can feel righteous in sending hate mail to people who don't believe exactly as they do.
I may not be able to show physical evidence that I have been here before, but I do know I've been alive before this life, and know that I will be back for another. I am the only one who I have to prove this to. Maybe I'll see you the next time around. Maybe the world will be less crowded then. See Ya!

It never stops does it?? Those people are controlling and vicious. Can't deal with their own problems but trying to fix someone else's. They can't get away with some stuff so they turn on other people and insult them for their religious beliefs... People just have a hateful nature... If they don't have Christians to hate, they hated the black people, when that went out of fashion they hate the Jews, when that goes out they hate the russians... or other kinds of people. They never stop hating. They are crippled with hate. Shows darn right what their religion brings.
This will be over soon.

There is a life after this one. We are not at home here on this earth. We are spiritual beings having an earthly experience. Look up, do you believe that this is all there is? Heaven is a real place. Read the scriptures. Pray for your Heavenly Father's spirit to reveal the truth to you. Seek and ye shall find. It's true.
Blessings.

Because it is possible that person does not believe in what you believe. For some odd reason, when we declare our love for God, there will always be others to tear us down and make us feel like we are being mislead or something else.

Here is the main thing - You believe in God and you also believe you are saved. That is cool!!! That IS GOOD NEWS!!!

Well, what it boils down to is that they see it as a challenge to their faith - or lack of it.

I asked a question just a few days ago about Mormons and was told I hated everyone that didn't believe the way I do! But it seems to be ok for THEM not not believe in same things I do.
(OK, rolling eyes now)

They will get what they deserve in the end. And that's about all I can hang on to.

Non-believers are a threat to believers, because they are insecure and afraid they might be wrong.

I don't believe this, but I thought I'd let the earlier poster see how silly it reads written in reverse.

In actuality I believe the problem doesn't come from whether one believes in a supreme being (or beings) or not. The problem always comes from one person or group trying to pressure everyone else to believe what he or it does.

I am atheist, and got tons of hate mail from Christians before I hid my mail address. Some people take it too far. It is fun and good till that starts. Well toughen up, cause more will come.

You believe how you wish.........People tend to want to push there belief down someones throat............it boggles the mind on why especially when a question is asked why you get some who answer with hated or criticize your question.....it is crazy

Because it's easier to hate than to actually open your mind to something new.

Which, you know, takes intelligence and a willingness to realize that not everyone is going to believe what you believe, which seems like a horrible contemplation to them.

They can't imagine.
