"religion" is a bunch of stupid rules with no real Biblical basis, it is mostly a combination of different peoples opinions. Having a realtionship with God and learning what the Bible really has to say on moral subjects etc is on the other hand not a bad thing, and people that call them selves Christians should ask one question as hokey as it sounds What Would Jesus Do? If its something you would do in Jesus presence, something He Himself would do its a good thing to do. This is the version of "religion" that people are better off with! having a relation ship with God, should be about love, and it is for someone who actually talk the talk and walk the walk. Slaves and tortured animals are not common in all religions just some, for clarification's sake!

Religion doesn't cause war - people do - power in the hands of one crazy midget can destroy the world - but on completely different grounds yeah, religion does suck - but considering the crime rate is so high right now and religion is the essence of must cultures and subsequently the laws passed, if there was no religion you never know stealing, murder and all other crimes would be acceptable and so they would be legal - and the world would be in worse chaos than it is now because even people who are good would not have the incentive to be the way they are and would be driven purely by human nature - and now that would really suck.

Hi
To answer your question about religion,When Jesus was on the earth He said that Satan is the ruler of the earth. After Satan deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Enen{which was a real place] Satan was in essence challanging God over rulership of mankind and earth. I can go ino a long explanation but time dose not allow right now.
The religions today do not eflect what the Bible says. Most of religions are based on pagon traditions that filtered into pure worship in the early centuries of the church. If you would like more info my e mail is wbyrnes2008@yahoo.com I would love to help if I can.Goodbye

It's not the religion but the people that make wars, slaves, ect. It's the way people believe in their religion - not the religion itslef.
Many Many people take their religion and twist is around - such as those who kill in God's name.. The people are the ones who think God needs THEIR help. (God doesn't NEED anyones help!)

I think that selfishness and egotistical self righteousness do a lot of evil, whether they claim to be religious or not. I do think that losing religion would benefit some people (like the Muslims) but I fear sometimes that if crazy A$$ christians in america didn't worship jesus/bible, they would follow some other crazy $hit that would be much worse, killing people, sacrificing animals/babies, stoning people, suicide cults. think about it, these people will believe anything if you give them something to believe in, they are scary.

More people have died in religious wars than any other kind. The advantage of a religious war is that by doing it for God you can go out and kill people all over the place and it's not a sin. You can do just about any violent, nasty, horrific thing for God and it is perfectly OK. So a religious war is a good way to go out and kill, maim and destroy for God and feel really good about it afterwards.

religion is not evil. it presents guidelines to live a healthy and responsible life. it's the interpretation of guidelines to the extreme that makes some people use religion to start war.it was not religion that started the war in iraq. it's certainly not because saddam sent iraqis to topple the world trade center. bin ladin did that. bush decided to invade iraq anyways.

Your entitled to your beleif's. So here is mine, Evil is within, religion cleanses this in ones who choose to beleive in thier higher power.
As for war, hate, and all that, the world has been going through that for thousands of years. The struggle for power is the root of evil.

Please open your history book to the page on communist russia or China. Note the wonderful pictures of all the happy people and the thriving economy and the ethical governments.
..lol
And please do a yahoo search on such things as the civil war, world war I and II, korean war, vietnam war, american revolution. I do believe these were wars correct.
Oh and then look up all of the murders that have happened in the US cities in the past year. Tell me how many of them were because of greed, anger, and jealousy and how many were because of being a Christian.
After you do these things then we can talk.
(Why do atheist always call theist intellectually lazy? I find the opposite)
