And Jesus said "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18) (the critical passage of scripture for the establishment of the authority claims of the Roman Catholic Church) ...

And Constantine, the first Christian emperor of Rome, co-author of the Edict of Milan, who convened and oversaw the Council of Nicea which was responsible for developing the Nicean Creed, central to doctrine of Christianity ...

And who also commissioned the building of many Christian churches, including one at the alleged tomb of St. Peter known as St. Peter's bascilica, which became part of the seat of the Roman Catholic church ...

And the Catholic Church was the original, official Church ...

And the term Catholic means "universal" ...

(and I'm talking centuries before the rise of Protestanism)

How is it that many Christians now claim that the Catholic Church is not Christian?

Which church/denom. IS "Christian"?

If God have you the choice to worship God or not with no punishment or reward either way, would you still worship?

First of all, the lack of a case for evolution is clear from the fact that no one has ever seen it happen. If it were a real process, evolution should still be occurring, and there should be many "transitional" forms that we could observe. What we see instead, of course, is an array of distinct "kinds" of plants and animals with many varieties within each kind, but with very clear, and apparently, unbridgeable gaps between the kinds. That is, for example, there are many varieties of dogs and many varieties of cats, but no "dats" or "cogs." Such variation is often called microevolution, and these minor horizontal (or downward) changes occur fairly often, but such changes are not true "vertical" evolution.

I hear them all the time here on answers, they seem to hate Christians, God, the bible...so I thought I'd find out about them...and this is what I've seen and heard from them.

1. No schools or universities built
2. They have built no hospitals
3. They don't feed the poor (or don't know where they do
4. They don't believe in God
5. They don't believe in Jesus
6. They don't believe the bible
7. They seem to only say nasty critical things to
anyone who does any of (1-6)
8. They have no direction other than love of self
9. They believe they are their own God.
10. They seem to offer society ZERO...nothing
other than tearing others down.

And they insist they can think on there own as if they are a big boy or girl.

Have I missed anything?

The Devil controls hell, isn't possible that the Devil is building an army of evil people who have terrorised Earth since the beginning of time and then one day unleash it upon Earth or even Heaven?

The universe is constantly changing so what did it look like when he originally created it? Was there an 'initial state' of the universe that he created? A universe where the our moon had no crater holes, our mountains had no streams eroding them, no wave had yet broke on the beach.

Is the bible a set of rules?

or a story about a set of guidelines.

Do we set the rules based on these guidelines?

If so why do we fight over them...

Because, you know, I've been looking over the bible recently, and I've realized that it doesn't make a great deal of sense. There are countless hypocricies and errors within the novel, contradictions made by Jesus himself, as well as statements that are completely impossible. What sort of merciful God would make a race capable of deciding matters on it's own, then punish them after they display a bit of independance? Why do we experiance an eternity of pain for a finate series of sins? If people are imperfect, why is the Pope infallable?

Anyone wanna try to convince me that everything is fine and that the bible is perfect?

Somewhere in the new testament Jesus is speaking, I beleive to his disciples and is talking about his second coming. He says something like it will be within the lifetime of some of those present. Does anyone please know which book and verse this is?
Thank you in anticipation

This verse is directed at Muslims. Please read it and talk about how you feel. Please mention your faith as well. Thanks in advance!

[5.82] Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews and those who are polytheists, and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly.

Where in the bible does it say:

"She is dancing away from you now
...she was just a wish
And her memory is all that is left for you now"

Were those lines talking about Salome?

It provides little notes on the sides of the scripture. Handy when you get in debates with people who don't know what they're talking about.

I heard a woman talk about her story today. Her husband left her, her mother recently died, and she is being forced out of her home. I don't have a place for her to stay, but I want to give her money to help out, and so does my brother.

Jesus tells us to take care of those in need, and as a Christian, I feel a strong desire to help those in need.

But with so many scams out there (especially on the internet), how can I know if the money I give away is actually going to someone in need and not just somebody in greed?

And please, no anti-Christian statements please... they are not helpful.

Is the war between Israel and Lebanon a sign of the times? Are we far from the second coming of Christ?

Satan believes in God. Demons recognized Christ when he came toward the boy they possessed. Satan was in heaven and knew God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. So, why do people think that just "believing" in God will bring you salvation? The Bible is clear, isn't it? What is required for one to be assured of heaven?

I vote for Werner Herzog, because we are not children of the universe. He believes in chaos, unforgiving violence of nature, and not the fantasy land of the bible.
