The universe is constantly changing so what did it look like when he originally created it? Was there an 'initial state' of the universe that he created? A universe where the our moon had no crater holes, our mountains had no streams eroding them, no wave had yet broke on the beach.

Harry and Don you both had great answers. I too like the idea that everything came from one singularity where there was absolutely no difference, no space, and no time separating all of us from all of existence. And if that is God, and if we are a part of her spreading throughout the universe, then *that* is a creation story I can truly appreciate.

This is also a very Buddhist view; that there is, at the most fundamental level, nothing separating us from ourselves and the world around us.

Peace

The original state of the universe created by "God" would have to be God itself. Everything begins as an idea. Therefore is God an idea?

God is not in the universe She is the universe.

She created the universe from the only thing that She had available, Herself.

You and the most distant star from you in the universe both exist within the idea of God.

This is a difficult concept for most people to comprehend because they have been taught nonsense about God. Like the idea that God lives far away on a cloud called heaven. God is not a raindrop. Raindrops live in clouds Not God. This is foolishness.

Jesus told us that the kingdom of God is within us. This is true because each and every one of us exist as a part of God. We live and move within our loving source. There is no moment or possibility that we can ever be apart from her.

Forget the silly stories that you have been told about a distant God that lives in the clouds. Look around you. Everything that you see is God.

Love and blessings.
Don

Oh man.... The world was a very different place, according to the creation theory. The bible says that there was water above and below, divided by the sky. That suggests that there was a layer of ice or water surrounding the earth, above the sky.
This is highly possible, as it would create an environment where the species would thrive: The hyperbolic conditions would cause organisms to live longer (ie, humans living hundreds of years, like it also says in the bible, plants and lizards growing to enormous size, etc.) Anyway, the theory is that this layer of water fell from the sky during the flood, and very quickly created the "erosion patterns" we see, the grand canyon, etc. You should study creation, it's pretty neat.

I will try to explain this using 2 angles - the convention scientific one and then marry it to the spiritual one

The postulates of Theory of relativity and Quantum physics have now come to a point where they believe that the origination point was an intensely dense DOT of sub sub atomic particles which were packed together so densely that the mass of that point would be infinite. This is the same case with black holes where not even light can escape its gravitational pull and anything that goes near gets sucked in like a giant vacuum cleaner never to escape again. The concepts of space & time dont exist within this black hole. This DOT was the beginning and then it exploded to create the universe as we see today..sort of the reverse of the black hole phenomenon. (Good read : Stephen Hawkings Theory of the Universe)

Now we come to the Spiritual angle:
This DOT that was there in the beginning is the ONE which is timeless, ageless and incomprehendible to the human mind with its limited faculties of understanding. This DOT was ALL THAT IS. ALL THAT IS can also be called GOD.ALL THAT IS knew conceptually that HE/SHE is the creator (the Uncreated creator, the Unmoved Mover..whatever you call) but when ALL THAT IS wanted to experience the above state, then HE/SHE exploded to create the primordial Universe which evolved to the state we see today and is constantly undergoing evolution still. This cycle continues endlessly...like expansion and contraction...birth and death..waxing and waning...

I have not even touched the surface with this explanation as it can be very long winded. In short, the only Constant in this Universe is Change and that Constant is God.

Maybe is liek the big bang? maybe god said BAM and made the big bang and creates us. Just because it originated from science doesnt mean it cant be from religion too. Im not a big god believin person tho but still i know some stuff but u cant deny all the evidence. maybe there was a universe before us and it collapsed to gether then went boom cuz god said so because the last universe sucked balls. so he made a new one and said BAM and hes laughing at us dumb humans right now saying look at there pathetic attempts to answer questions they cannot possible comprehend

Before God created the universe, there was nothing. Then He spoke everything into being. Read Genesis, if you haven't already. Very good, interesting reading. I recommend The Message Bible.

Read Genesis 1 and John 1. God spoke it into existance through His Word. www.godandscience.org

He created it by speaking it into existence. Of course no one knows how things looked prior to the curse, but we do know that it was good in God's eye.

what a beautiful sentiment.... an unadulterated earth... literally immaculate. honestly, i believe that as you said, everything was smooth... little in the way of mountains and valleys... probably few visible crags of any kind. fresh, in a very sleek and inviting way.
