2 Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. 3 Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.

Matthew Chapter 1:2-3 (New King James Version)

Notice Issac's brother isn't mentioned, Jacob's brother isn't mentioned, Judah's brother's are mentioned but not named, neither is the sister, and not to muddy the waters but Judah had other children (I think in Genesis they didn't survive very long).

Just curious. Cause it seems Perez is the ancestor and the brother isn't essential to the geneology.

Many evangelical Christians believe that Israel is a special holy land so that it's different from the rest of the world.

Many also believe a bible verse that says, "When they say 'There is peace, then shall the destruction come'," meaning that peace in Israel would only signify the end of the world.

Could these beliefs work to create a foreign policy that seeks to protect Israel on one hand (god's chosen), but keep it destabilized on the other (ie, maintaining low-level skirmishes to prevent the apocalypese, which is preceded by peace)?

April 1506 - Portugal
"On the same day on which the Conversos (Jews who were forced to convert to christianity) were liberated, the Dominicans displayed in a side-chapel of their church, where several New Christians were present, a crucifix and a reliquary in glass from which a peculiar light issued. A New Christian, who was so incautious as to explain this ostensible miracle as being due to natural causes, was dragged from the church and was killed by an infuriated woman. A Dominican roused the populace still more; and two others, crucifix in hand, went through the streets of the city, crying "Heresy!" and calling upon the people to destroy the Marranos. All New Christians found in the streets were killed; and a terrible massacre ensued.
