If Islam is the nation of peace that some ask us to believe, why can't they control the radicals who are destroying any good feelings any civilized person is trying to have for the religion? If Muslims are a peaceful religion, one would think the leadership would not tolerate such behavior from such a "minority???" of its followers. To me, it just shows that by tolerating terrorism, the leadership of the religion is really in favor of the terrorism.

Maybe we should look closer at the question of whether we should remain tolerant of Islam if they are simply on a jihad to kill all those who don't believe in God as they imagine him? What do you really think?

2OOO years ago people were saying Jesus was mad, preaching to people about a big man who lives in the sky and lets u go to paradise when ur dead and it sounded crazy to most people, just like scientology sounds crazy to most of us now. So do u think in 2000 years scientology could have taken over as the mainstream religion?

I read from post that religious people cause most of the bad stuff in the world, are misinformed and ignorant, yada yada.

So lets say you as an atheist sailed the ocean blue and found a huge unhabited island. Now its your own country. Soon the world learns of this country and people want to live there. What would be the rules and constitution and culture of your perfect island as an atheist?

Why cant religion and science work in co-operation, why do they have to be such mortal enemys? my personal thoughts are that they both drive to seek the same goal. science in a form of numerals and equations, and religion in flesh and faith. science seeks out answers to the world. religion also seeks these same answers, but in a different format. Take evolution for example, science says darwin, religion says god just poofed us to fit to our current state. why couldnt god have created us and then tweaked us over time using evolution??? it seems logical to me. he saw improvements to be needed, he improved. and the creation of the universe, science has many theorys but the biggest common agreed one is the big bang theory. religion says it was just wisked here all of a sudden. i dont understand why god could not have used the big bang method to create the universe? it has to always be such utter hate between the two when in fact they both drive the same questions.1 has equations, one faith

I don't even own a Bible, but I've noticed that Atheists quote more scripture than Christians. What's the point if God doesn't exist?

God had to come from somewhere since he was the start of everything. That means there was nothing before him. So you are saying that God came from nothing but isn't that your argument against evolution? Something does not come from nothing so where did God come from if he was the start of everything? Either God popped into being, came from an even higer being, or he evolved from something simpler. Which one is it? So say we are not meant to know is not an answer it is a comp out.

Seriously... It's a cult. Everyone knows this. They believe aliens came at some point and created us or something. Fill me on the weird facts please, do you think scientology should be lowered from religion status to cult status and am I the only one who thinks they are all lunatic sheep who fell for a complex money making scheme?

I will select the best answer based on the most informative, personally BIOGRAPHICAL, and well-written response on your acquisition of your current faith; please tell us your story and revelation. All religions welcome (atheists and agnostics; I have a separate question for you, please answer that one instead).
I am interested in your personal story, from day one to today.
Please do not answer with one-liners such as, "Because I am" or "Because I feel God inside me", please do not preach, please do not flood with biblical (or any other) citations, poems, and quotations, and please be attentive to your language and grammar.

Would you categorize yourself, alongside atheism, as also a nihilist?
Definition: A universal definition of nihilism could then well be the rejection of that which requires faith for salvation or actualization and would span to include anything from theology to secular ideology.
If you are curious more counterorder.com explains it pretty well.

So just tell me if you are, aren't, and why. Thank you.

i am a christian and proud to be one. however i dont believe that any religion or religious book whether its the bible or koran can be taken for its literal truth. most of our religious books are filled with cultural, social and tribal prijudices and as long as we dont remove those wrong beliefs from these books God will never become a reality to us. when i read the bible i see how jesus called me out of these tribal customs and set me free. thats why i am proud to be a christian
dont you think people of all religions should do the same and join the 21st century as new children?

Silly question I know but this morning I was walking home from Mass and I was feeling sad and despondent. I found the tiniest robins egg shell and for a moment I could see God's love and care reflected in the egg shell. I walked the rest of the way home smiling and looking at the wonderful things around me. I believe God sent this insignificant sign to cheer me. You may think I am crazy and I could be but I feel one can find God in the simplest things.

Heaven and Hell are within us, and all the gods are within us. This is the great realization of the Upanishads of India in the ninth century B.C. All the gods, all the heavens, all the worlds are within us. They are magnified dreams, and the dreams are manifestations in image form of the energies of the body in conflict with each other. That is what myth is. Myth is a manifestation of in symbolic images, in metaphorical images, of the energies of the organs of the body in conflict with each other.

I went to my grandmother's ranch one day with a whole bunch of my friends, then my friend and I got on a four wheeler and started ridding. I was in the back holing on and she was driving, but it was her first time. so we went as far as we could go until we reached a gate to a different property, so we turned back around and my sister and my other friend were behind us wridding too. So then the driver from our four wheeler looked back still driving super fast then I looked back to see what she was looking at, but then we went off the road and bounced off a big rock! And we both fell of the four wheeler. I landed on a Prickly-Pear cactus, and she fell somewhere next to me and hit her head on a rock and started bleading! And I got thorns all over myslef, and started bleading too. Then my friend that hit her head looked up and saw that the four wheeler was about to land on us, so she closed her eyes and said "Oh Lord don't let us die right now!" so a man came, and he saved us!

Why do they care about the Bible if they do not believe in its inspiritation, authority and inerrancy? Without that it is just another story. Why don't they just make up anything they want and teach it?
