I read from post that religious people cause most of the bad stuff in the world, are misinformed and ignorant, yada yada.

So lets say you as an atheist sailed the ocean blue and found a huge unhabited island. Now its your own country. Soon the world learns of this country and people want to live there. What would be the rules and constitution and culture of your perfect island as an atheist?

This answer seemed very interesting

"Atheist Nation....
No violence... ever
No fighting.
There would never.... ever be a war.
Never an angry word spoken.
Everybody would set their own set of values and morals.
Everybody would be intelligent and free-thinking (unless you disagree with someone). Nobody would be "brainwashed" (again...unless you disagreed with somebody).
It would be a world full of peaceful intellects."

So without religion, human nature for power and greed would magically disappear. No more war? WWI, WWII, Vietnam War,Civil War had nothing to do with religion. No fighting - even school children fight and it has noting to do with religion. If everyone set their own values and morals you are guaranteed to have fighting.

See how 'brainwashed' atheist can be about how great athiesism is.

Right! And tell that to Stalin and Pol Pot and the leaders of Communist China. Some of the most brutal leaders in history were avowed atheists.
Remember this.. Man is sinful. For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.

Just because someone is atheist, doesn't mean they are evil. Doesn't mean they don't have morals. Doesn't mean they go around killing people.
I'm an atheist and I know right from wrong. It's all about common sense and having proper values. I don't need a book to tell me all this. I have a brain and can figure out what is right and what isn't.
If you need some book telling you how to live your life, that's up to you. But I think people can learn to do the right thing without religion too. Parents should be teaching proper values to children right from the start. Teaching them to respect other people. To respect themselves. To respect the planet. And teaching them what's right and wrong.
I'm not anti religion, but I don't feel I personally need religion to be a better person. If you do, then there's no problem with that either.
Regardless if a person is religious or not, we should all just get along.

Atheist Nation....
No jealousy, envy, greed, bitterness, hate.
No murder (except for a child in a womb, that is the one and only exception... but that doesn't really count).
There would never.... ever be a war.
Never an angry word spoken.
Everybody can set their own set of values and morals.
Everybody would be intelligent and free-thinking (unless you disagree with someone).
Nobody could be accused of being "brainwashed" (again...unless you disagree with somebody).
It would be a world full of peaceful intellects.

Iran is an Atheist nation? Wow, Mainworry seems to get his geographical knowledge from interesting places...

If you think about it, that has already happened. I'm not suggesting the Columbus was an atheist - I know he wasn't, but he wasn't exactly what you'd call a scriptural literalist either. If he had been, he would never have considered the possibility that the world might be round and that you could get to Asia by travelling west.

I would never dream of creating an 'atheist nation' - I think that freedom of religion is one of the most important principles we have in this would. But I would create a country that was profoundly laic - one where religious matters were completely seperate from the government, and one whose civil rights were much stronger than those outlined in the Bible.

The rules and constitution would be similar to the US' current for me. Except that EVERYONE pays taxes, even churches, and govt uses religion for NOTHING!! No "in god we trust" no school prayer, etc...

If someone wants to pray at home, their car, or quietly at their desk, that's their business.

No banning of ANY medical procedure unless studies can prove that harm outweighs the good. (I know that can be vague, this is all rough, an exception would be assisted suicide, for that, they just have to prove mental competence). ALL citizens share the same rights except criminals who may have some taken away.

Doesn't that sound just horrific??

the only philosophy that keeps sanity in our cutting-edge society is Atheism! there'll be no retribution from Christians and no takeover. the explanation why a good sort of the arising international locations have 'severe Atheist populations" is the actual incontrovertible fact that Atheism focuses upon technological know-how and fact somewhat than Bronze Age myths and myth.

I'd only admit attractive females between the ages of 18 and 50. Nudity in public is allowed/accepted as normal, but not mandatory.

There was already a country like that. There were a couple actually. U.S.S.R. and China. I don't recall many wanting to live there if they had a chance while they were officially atheistic.

Mine would probably be very similar to the US laws.

The culture would be closer to feudal japan when honor, respect, and loyalty were held above all things.
