Because pigs are impure they bathe in mud.
Dr Glen Shepherd wrote the following on the dangers of eating pork in Washington Post (31st May, 1952.)
"One in six people in the USA and Canada have germs in their muscles- trichinosis- from eating pork infected with trichinia worms. Many people are infected but have no symptoms. Most of those who do have recover slowly. Some die. Some are reduced to permanent invalids. All were careless pork eaters."

Respect, tolerance and understanding is for the PEACE of the world. Your question shows no respect and is very rude to human beings living on this earth. Because that in this world today there are too many people who are so insensitive like you therefore there are so many wars breaking up. You are fortunate that you are living in a part of the world that is not war torn so may GOD bless you. You know your remarks will only provoke the situation, so why you want to vent your anger like that? I am not a muslim but I felt offended by you as a decent human being living on this earth seeking for peace and harmony.

If you read the bible you should understand that jews can't eat pigs too. In fact christians should not be able to eat pigs either.

the same reason you don't eat dogs, cats, or horses
just a irrational cultural convention
probably started in the distant past when some type of disease or parasite was transferred from pigs to humans

Um...I am not Muslim and would never be, but I do not think it is necessary for you to insult them like that. Is it, really?
You don't have to like them or their religion, but it would be nice if you'd show a bit of respect. They DO have a right to be Muslim as much as you have a right not to be.
A long time ago I knew some. The ones I knew were kind, nice and polite, actually.

It's just part of their religion, and your arrogant, ignorant, and obviously slightly illiterate question tells me that you are one of those people who only tolerate those that are most like you. People like you are the reason that there is hate, war, and killing in the world. Get some REAL (not fake) self esteem and maybe then you'll realize that you don't have to berate everyone else for being different just to make yourself feel better..

Jews do not eat pigs either, that doesn't make them pigs.
Both religions simply have laws about what food is permissible, and what food is not.

not eating a pig isnt just a muslim thing and you are a very uninformed person to be so ignerant to muslims and there cutcher a pig is an"unholy and dirty"animal it eats every thing and anything and lies in sh!t

Muslims do no longer devour beef because Allah(SWT) stated no longer to, thats reason sufficient for any believer. also, i'm unable to imagine eating an animal that consumes it is own feces, yuck!
