Well, Christian is a broad statement. Naturally, a belief in Jesus will be needed. But how to believe in Him is harder. You could go original with Catholicism. Or go Protestant. Evangelical. Methodist. Baptist. Mormon. Lutheran.

You can find some good info in Christianity for Dummies (I'm not being mean, it's really a book), or on About.com. There are some articles that condense it down. Of course, you'll need to visit some churches, talk to officials and find a comfortable place. In the end, God will show you the way.

I think that the best way to answer this question is to teach you the Apostles'Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator Of Heaven & earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His Only Son, Our Lord. He Was Conceived By the Power Of the Holy Spirit, & Born of the Virgin Mary. He Suffered under Pontius Pilate: Was Crucified, Died, & Was Buried. He Descended into Hell. On the Third Day, He Rose & again & He Ascended into Heaven. He Is Seated at the Right Hand Of God Our Father, & Will Come again to Judge the living & the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints. the Forgiveness of sins, the Resurrection of the body & the life everlasting. Amen.

You simply believe that the crucifixion of two thieves named Jesus died for your sins so you will no longer be capable of sin even if you murder innocent women and children with massive bombs.

Wear a cross around your neck and let everyone know that you are a Crosstian and that you believe alcohol is the blood of your God and drink as much of it as you like.

Try being born-again or gone-again as often as you like and worship Israel as the Children of God.

Believe in the thirteen Gods of the Trinity and let everyone know how smart you are to worship a Mystery.

Be prepared to have your head shrunk and stolen because it is strictly a Head religion that never touches the heart. You say it in your head loud and clear and hear the garbage you talk. You wont believe yourself.

AMEN!

Before you decide to become a Christian, you should find out their beliefs. If you don't know the answer to your own question, then I believe that you don't really want to go into Christianity.

It is based on Judaism. Sort of. They changed a bunch of stuff. Modern Christianity bears little resemblance to what those who authored the writings that are now mislabeled as "the new testament" would have been practicing.

You really should make an informed choice, rather than finding out the details of your selection after an arbitrary decision.

The most important thing is to believe in Jesus, that he died on the cross. also he dose forgive everything but you have to ask. and one last thing when prying remember to praise him/ thank him for everything than ask for what you need.
