I don't even own a Bible, but I've noticed that Atheists quote more scripture than Christians. What's the point if God doesn't exist?

The bible is just like any other book. You read it, you get what knowledge you can out of it, and then you put it down. I read the bible too, even though I'm a Pagan. You can read a book and know it's fictional.

The KJV is an important book historically; even non-religious people recognize that, and some non-Westerners study it to understand the foundations of Western society.

Also, believers and non-believers alike recognize it as a beautiful piece of literature, so it is read and even enjoyed by some atheists for that reason, too.

Also, God the Father draws people to investigate the Bible, for reasons they can't begin to understand at the time. But some people get so angry they throw the book across the room several times, and argue with Christians for years, before they begin to trust the One who wrote it.

Don't know.
Most atheists probably don't "study" the bible though. There is a difference between studying a text/subject and picking out parts of it. You study something to get some kind of understanding of it. Some atheists have studied the bible, but I bet most haven't. Not even all Christians study the bible.

This is a very interesting question that should be addressed.

The wierder thing is that more Athiests have red the entire Bible then people. See many believers who already truely believe only pay attention to only the basics. No, I'm not saying if you read the entire Bible that you will become Athiests; all I'm saying is that more Athiests do.

The main reason they do is to debate religion. In other words know thier opponents side. Another reason they do it is to justify why they don't believe.

If you study your opponents side you will have a strong advantage.

I read the bible twice cover to cover. Once when I wondered what all the fuss was about and the second time as part of my comparative religions curriculum in college. I don't answer bible questions nor do I quote from it. I own a number of bibles because they are family bibles and contain genealogies of my ancestors in them. I haven't picked up a bible otherwise for many years.

For some, they are truly curious. Maybe there's something here, they think, that I missed.
For others, they are looking for fuel.
You'd be surprised how many atheists opened the Bible looking for material to use against Christians, and wound up on their knees. From great questions often arises great faith.

As far as I'm concerned, go for it, atheists!! Read that Holy Book!! Maybe you will find your way to Christ there, maybe not. You will never find enough material to separate me from the love of God which is in Christ, or any other one of His kids. But you might find something there that might set your feet on the path toward home!!

can't bloody win can we!!! If we don't read the bible we're ignorant idiots that know nothing of religion so we cant speak against it, and if we do read it then we get **** for reading something we don't believe in. It's ****! Some of us read the bible because we need a way to get our point across in religious "debates"( it's the only way that even comes close), others because they like to learn more about other ppls religious beliefs so they can become more open minded and accepting, and some because, like me, they were raised in religious households and were read to from the bible since childhood!

I think that some Atheists study the Bible in order to attempt to prove it wrong. It just goes to show that believing in nothing is harder than believing in something.

The bible is an interesting book. If you read it with the intention of not wanting to believe then you will find easy hooks to quickly hang your disbelief. Vice versa if you want to read it look for something good and life changing

Because you need to know why you are atheists. If you don’t know why you don’t believe in God than your faith in nothing is without merit. Your study the bible and than you decided that you dont believe a word it says or vice versa
