A liberal christian is one who actually follows the teachings of Jesus "Christ," instead of the writings of the belated apostle Paul. A liberal christian is one who condemns less and loves more. A liberal christian is one who understands that salvation is about what Jesus did and not what people do or don't do.
Any other questions?
Christianity isn't about how many things you can give up for Christ, it's how much you can project Christ's image and teachings to the world. If your focus is on what people do and don't do, it can't be on what Jesus did and said.... you can't serve two masters...

I agree that those who do not believe in the inspiration and authority as well as the inerrancy of scripture are mistaken in doing so. Liberal Christians often take more "left-wing" views on social issues. However, liberal is more of a political term than a religious term. I wouldn't refer to people who hold those beliefs as liberal Christians, I would call them something else entirely. Christianity needs to stay out of politics and stick with building the kingdom of God.

A liberal Christian is a Christian who sees no contradiction between faith and reason, and insists on subjecting the claims of religious authorities to the tests of reason and conscience. This is because a disinterested study of history and human society shows that religious authorities have a marked tendency to distort the truth, and enslave and abuse human beings. A liberal Christian is a Christian for whom the final court of appeal is not an ancient text, nor a religious hierarch, but one's own conscience, freely exercised. A liberal Christian is a Christian who believes that no word is God's final word -- that God continues to speak. A liberal Christian recognizes the ambivalence of all religious tradition, and yet treasures the genuine and irreplaceable values inculcated by Christian faith. A liberal Christian listens with deep respect to the tradition (including the Biblical text, the writings of Christian sages through history, and the statements of contemporary Christian authorities) and then makes up her own mind.
Because the Bible, like every text composed by human beings, is a mixture of inspiration and error. The inspiration it contains is unique and profoundly important; it contains truths found nowhere else. All the benefits of modern secular society -- its respect for the integrity of the individual, its sense of justice, its holding of liberty of conscience in such esteem -- derive ultimately from Christian faith and experience. Nevertheless, the Bible also shows the deep influence of barbaric and outmoded ideas about God. In itself, it shows a development of thought -- between the bloodthirsty God of the Israelites who commanded them to kill the Amalekite women and children, and the God whom St John proclaims "is love," and "is light." And in 2000 years of leading by God's Spirit, we've learned still more, unless we chain ourselves to the state of human spiritual knowledge in the NT. Paul thought slavery was fine. We know otherwise. Paul thought women shouldn't speak in church. We know otherwise. Paul didn't even know there was such a thing as "homosexual orientation." We know otherwise. Jesus expected the imminent end of the world. It didn't happen. But none of that means the Bible is worthless, or that we would be justified in ignoring or rejecting it completely. What we have to do is be discerning. We have to actually use our brains and our hearts, and not turn them off. This is why God gave them to us.

A good example would be Hilary Clinton.
I remember a speech she gave, wherein she's spouting off about "the God I believe in wouldn't do this, that, or the other thing", basically attacking all the tenets of the Christian Bible, yet still claiming to be some kind of "christian".
Yeah, right.

A "Liberal" Christian takes liberties with the Word of God. Where the Bible says that it's a shame for a woman to cut her hair, the "liberal" christian says..."it's OK"
Where the Bible says fornication is a sin,
the "liberal Christian" goes to church, gives an offering, and thinks "everybody does it" and the preacher never preaches against it so who's keeping tally?
God is.

Do you think Jesus cared more about the working man or the Corporation? Do you think Jesus would have approved more of socialized medicine, or a competitive marketplace for medical treatments?
Would Jesus have bombed the **** out of Iraq, or would He have sought a diplomatic solution?
Just asking.

Becuase they use their BRAIN!!! ANd when they see a book that tells them to kill their grandmother for wearing 2 materials, they reject that. When they see a nice passage promising a wonderful after-life if they believe in jesus, whether they help the poor or not, they like that part.
Nuff said?

just because they dont believe it is 100% true doesn't mean they believe it is 100% false. have started out true then accumulated errors because of people putting their own opinions in it or just translation errors. so when it comes down to it its about faith. they have faith in some scripture but not all, the reason they dont have faith in some parts of scripture is probably because it is observable that that scripture is incorrect or highly unlikely and they have faith in the scriptures they have faith for no real reason just like most peoples faith

A 'liberal Christian' is a hopelessly lost person who thinks they are a Christian.

... you need to walk the path God is calling you to walk and nevermind what other people are doing ... you are not special, and you are not right ... START finding something that's right, and STOP looking for things that are wrong ... you are behaving very badly and if that's the way your church teaches you to act, then i hope i never visit there ...
