Why can't Islamic Clerics control the radicals?

If Islam is the nation of peace that some ask us to believe, why can't they control the radicals who are destroying any good feelings any civilized person is trying to have for the religion? If Muslims are a peaceful religion, one would think the leadership would not tolerate such behavior from such a "minority???" of its followers. To me, it just shows that by tolerating terrorism, the leadership of the religion is really in favor of the terrorism.

Maybe we should look closer at the question of whether we should remain tolerant of Islam if they are simply on a jihad to kill all those who don't believe in God as they imagine him? What do you really think?

I hear some of you with your reasoning about how the pope cannot control this or that and people can't stop rapist and murders but this question goes way beyond this. Is there not a council of Islamic Clerics? Is there not a High Leadership of some sort. On the local levels, if a cleric asked his congregation to let it be known when they see groups gather with guns, etc., this cleric could report it to his superiors, etc. and the radicals could be dealt with. To me it seems obvious the clerics are promoting the violence so maybe would should deal with issue of terrorism by beginning with Islam. A very wise man once said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." This fruit sure looks rotten to me.

You have this backwards my friend. Islam started hundreds of years before Muslims even was around. It started pagan Islam , then Militant Islam. The original Islam is killers, violent, militia Islam.

They are the TRUE Islam. Not the Muslim today. The Militia will never change, and they will and are killing Muslims everyday that don't agree. This is your Muhammad's great idea.

There is no Muslim Pope. They don't have a leadership. Each Mosque is independent, just like most churches. The same way anyone in America can rent out a storefront and call it a church, the same is true with Islam.
