A simple explanation of hell, not in the biblical sense. The biblically, simply defined, is being away from the nearness of God. I am talking about the personal hell of self-examination that ALL spiritual journeys ascribe to. Whether it be Confession, giving testamony, therapy, couseling, meditation, going into to something to get out of it etc etc Looking deep into oneself is "hell" at first, but the rewards are Heaven.

Peace and Love

Like, where is heaven and hell, and how are we going to get there? Do we just float up, or appear? And, does the first thing God do is give you a great big hug? And what do you wear when you get to heaven?

Pretty sure the correct interpretation of the entire Bible is faith in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection is needed for atonement of sins, so that on judgement day the soul can have their name in the book of life and stand in the prescense of God.

Don't need the holy spirit for this one do I? I think I figured it out? Could we all agree, I an atheist figured out the Bible yes?

Belief in Jesus's death and resurrection = heaven
Disbelief = lake of fire as prescribed in Revelations Chapter 12

I didn't require the holy spirit to figure all that out did I?

We keep seeing "Chiristians" in the media making a fuss about displaying the Ten Commandments. I sat down and read them, and I can't figure out why almost nobody keeps the fourth commandment anymore. I was surprised to see that it is the only one that starts with the word "Remember". I am not Jewish or a Seventh Day Adventist. Where did Sunday keeping come from? Where is it in the Bible?

I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't be doing this because I'm an atheist, but I'm sitting here reading the last chapter of Revelation, where it is saying Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone who loves and makes a lie.

It seems to say something about requiring faith in Jesus in here somewhere, just so you all don't jump me for taking this out of context, that verse,

it just appears as I read this book, this bible, that there is a condition, faith in Jesus

Most learned scholars now believe that the crusades were not wrong and that revisionist history of today gets it all wrong. The muslims of the time were horrible barbarians who made women their slaves and practiced slave trade with impunity.

Scenerio 1: One christian pray to god that his son will not be murdered. But as God given everyone free will, God cannot prevent the murderer from killing his son.

Scenerio 2: A child prays to god that he will not get beaten by his abuser, but as god given everyone free will, god is unable to do anything to prevent the abuser from continuing his abuse.

Scenerio 3: Any soldiers that has been tortured as prisoners of war, you know why god did not help you, he cannot as he has given everyone free will, so he could not interfer with the torturer.

End of the day, why bother praying? Fact is, when it comes to critical situations, God can't help you because he cannot go against his promise of free will.

The biblical authors were mortal people who were documenting the events of their time. How would anyone know who is or isn't a virgin and be certain enough to write about it?

In our Scripture, both Old Testament and New Testament, the relationship between God and men—between the Lord and Israel, between Christ and His Church—is most often presented in nuptial language, as the relationship of bridegroom to bride. The Scripture uses other images, to be sure—God is our shepherd, our king, our healer. But the nuptial imagery is not on a par with the rest. It is the primary imagery, and it is not purely figurative. Our intimacy with God is truly nuptial.

Our Scripture, indeed, includes many different metaphors to express God's love for us: He is our shepherd, our king, our Father, vine-keeper, etc. But the marital metaphor is the most frequent one, the central and basic scriptural metaphor. (Gallagher, Maloney, Rousseau, and Wilczak 25, 117)

And while that majority of people seemed to understand what I was saying, I have a question for some of the Christians that answered. If your father was Jewish, on his deathbed would you really be trying to "show him the Truth", or would you allow him to make his own peace with God? I am sorry in advance if anyone is offended. Anyone who is not of this mindset please feel free to answer the other question...
