A simple explanation of hell, not in the biblical sense. The biblically, simply defined, is being away from the nearness of God. I am talking about the personal hell of self-examination that ALL spiritual journeys ascribe to. Whether it be Confession, giving testamony, therapy, couseling, meditation, going into to something to get out of it etc etc Looking deep into oneself is "hell" at first, but the rewards are Heaven.

Yes, I think we must face our own hell first, to be able to work on ourselves, make ourselves a better person and be able to appreciate heaven... whatever hell or heaven means for each of us!

Yes. Without the personal struggles of life we can never experience the joys that God has to offer us. We are born in sin and we must climb out of that sin in order to see the ligght that is Jesus Christ. I did not make the rules, God did. He wants us to spiritually grow, but this is something that we have to desire. Salvation is free----it cannot be bought or earned. The problem is, however, that we have all been taught from our youth to sin---yes even those who were born into and raised in God fearing families---and this is something that we need to work at in order to correct. Spiritual growth is the key, as I have said earlier. We must learn lessons in this life so that we can be prepared for what God has in store for us next. Heaven will be a place of continued growth, of continuing trials and tests. If you think that you are going to lie around and do nothing, or run around creation and do what you want, or commit all the sins that you could never get away with while on earth, then think again. Praise and worshipping God will be your primary duty. We are not at fault for our sin nature, but it has been handed down to us. God cannot wave his hand to illiminate it because sin is not with his nature. We must overcome sin through the blood of Jesus. Overcoming is stressful and sometimes torturous and always requies sacrifice. Love Jesus and your spiritual journey will be easier.

if by hell, you mean our life on earth, the bible says god will never give us more than we can handle. if you are going through a hellish time just know that god is still there and hes not got let this break you down.

If you dont want the "biblical" sense then dont use biblical words. Its like saying I want to know how to say "Where is the train station"? but not in English!

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour. -- William Blake

God is testing us in life, but we must remember that the night must end and that the sun will rise. (That's the only thing that helps me go on)

I think we may already be in Hell and we have to learn to be better humans to make it to a better place.
