I read anti christian questions. Yesterday I asked the asker, have you read any of the Bible. She put in the details, no i havent read the evil Bible. How does she know its evil unless she reads and thinks for herself?

I am thinking of kicking her out of jim_darwinism.

For those who knock Christianity, have you read the Bible?

For those who knock Evolution, have you read any of the scientific discussion on it?

For those who are Christian, do you read the Bible? I read a lot of nonsense from people who are Christian.

Me, I read everything I can get my hands on.

1) What is your definition of immorality?
2) Please explain how this would justify allowing someone to be tortured for eons in fire if they don't honor god.

My point is, if someone leads a good life, but ignores god, is that truly immoral?

If you had a child, would you tell him/her "If you honor me, I'll make sure you live in contentment and peace. If you don't honor me, I'll let the man across the street take you into his basement of fire for the rest of your life. It's your call, I have no say in the matter"

Don't you actually have the option of leaving them alone? As in, "You can't stay here, you are on your own, but I won't just hand you over to the psycho" Why is that option wrong? Why would an omnibenevolent being not choose this option?

Seriously, what about the "fire" option is reflective of an omnibenevolent being? Does it have to do with morality? Or just a whim?

Isn't it a historical fact that there were no christians in Jesus's time frame. Jesus was a jew though and though, and his interest lay in controling religious views of the jewish religion. He expressed no interest out his small realm of thought and members/clan(later called disciples). Christianity came into being as a result of the Roman emporer;s attempt to bring his empire closer together by adapting a singular religion and copeid the jews in doing so. Jesus was a really insignificent factor in his time, and opnly became a promenent factor after the decision by the roman empire to create the holy roman catholic church.

I thought you guys believe that you are supposed to pray to "God" for things and sometimes he says yes, sometimes no and other times maybe.

If a starving Ethiopian prays for food and "God" says no, then who are we to go behind his back and give it to them?

She also do drugs and witchcraft. I have a strong, good relationship with that person, but every time I try to talk about faith, she refuses to listen. She says I'm imposing my religion on her; she doesn't have a religion, though, she's very confused. I have loved this person, and never judged her, in fact, I've had fun with her, dancing to her music and watching her movies, both morally questionable. Maybe I've ruined my testimony. I wonder how I could ever share my faith with them... I don't know where to start....Do you have any ideas???

It's pretty well substantiated - who have you read on it before rejecting it. I don't mean high school, I mean academic work, scientific work.

Genesis makes sense psychologically but not historically. And if you go for intelligent design you need to throw away Genesis as history - and doesn't this make you wonder about the truth of the rest of it?

Morning Ramble

What a beautiful day God has given,

What a rare and beautiful sight,

So pleasant is the sunrise,

That follows such a night.

The earth shouts her greeting,

The wind whispers be still.

God is with you always,

Of love and life take fill.

I'm tired but I'm joyous,

The night over and in need of rest.

God's birds are singing lullabyes,

He knows just what is best.

Peace be with you brother,

My sister go in love.

God spreads His love unceasing.

He's watching from above.

Thank you for the sunrise,

The wind, the rain, the air.

I thank You for my family, friends.

For all Your love and care.

Wasn't Jesus message about forgiveness and turning the other cheek? Why is this message, which isn't in the bible, so popular among modern conservative Christians?

Isn't this just Biblical bigotry?
