What you won't hear churches preaching about is male masturbation, which is actually the same kind of "abomination" in the OT as homosexuality.

It is a contridition of terms. They have to be against something the bible teaches as immoral. Can't talk about sex outside of marriage because everyone in there is getting a little on the side.
Wouldn't make much money that way. and it is in business to make money. Those preachers in the big churches are rich.
Like the Republicans they pick something that everyones against but effects very few people. Like gay marriage, how many really want to do that? very few.
While they slaughter thousands in wars over oil.
But thats ok because they are against abortion.
Have to be against something to stay respectable. Otherwise people would know you were not so good.

Neither one is right when it comes to what the bible says. I think people tend to harp on homosexuality because of the harsh stand that the bible takes against it. Homosexuality is mocking God saying that they way he created man and woman were not good enough and we as humans have a better way. Sex outside of marriage is wrong and has lasting effects on anyone who does it. Sex is the closest that you can get to another persons spirit here on earth and the more partners you have the more of your spirit you give away. Also the more parts of others spirits you take with you. Hope this helps to clear it up a little. From a Christian stand point both types of sin should be looked down upon and neither should be just ok.

Maybe the reason you see more about gay people in the church than about sex outside of marriage could be:
1. being "gay" is kind of a new phenom... people have been antiChrist since the beginning of time and homosexuality is definatly antiChrist... but... in recent years more and more people are coming our and more and more people are accepting it.. it is becoming acceptable in churches to be gay.. but it is not acceptable to God and He speaks about it in His word...
2. Many people are scared to speak about sex outside of marriage because they don't want to offend... many people in the church engage in this type of sin.. especially younger people... the church is about keeping you in not making you mad and they aren't trying to hurt EVERYBODY'S feelings!!
3. It is pretty much common knowledge that sex outside of marriage is wrong and where to find it b/c like you said.. the Bible speaks about it ALOT!! but. .not many people know that homosexuality is actually a sin.. that it is an AntiChrist notion.. and where to find it in the Bible... it is important that everyone know the Truth and it seems like more people know the truth about homosexuality
4. sin is sin... no sin will send you to Hell faster.. God hates ALL sin and sees it all the same
and finally... maybe it is the church(es) you're going to.. maybe they have a problem with rampent homosexuality in their congregations.. those are a few things I can think of...
I would suggest you talk to the people you hear talking about these things.. but you are right many churches do pick the subject of the moment.... in my opinion.. those are not the types of churches raising up Men and Women of God.. they are raising up judgemental and blinded Christians... at my church.. we teach everything.. I suggest a non-denominational church that teaches instead of hollers at you that you're a horrible person b/c of the subject of the moment

Because no matter how religious a person is, in the end we are still just human beings.
While sex before marriage is still a sin, it is something that the mortal human mind can deal with easier compared to homosexuality, so that issue gets focused on first.

If you've never heard a Christian church preach against sex outside of marriage, then you've never been to one. We proclaim complete faithfulness within marriage between one man and one woman, or else complete celibacy. No exceptions.

You have never been to the Church where my Husband Preaches. He preaches that sin is sin no, ifs, ands, or buts. Needless to say he is not very popular at times.
