We keep seeing "Chiristians" in the media making a fuss about displaying the Ten Commandments. I sat down and read them, and I can't figure out why almost nobody keeps the fourth commandment anymore. I was surprised to see that it is the only one that starts with the word "Remember". I am not Jewish or a Seventh Day Adventist. Where did Sunday keeping come from? Where is it in the Bible?

Contrary to popular belief, Christians are not perfect. No one is perfect in a imperfect world. The only ones that are, are God and Jesus.

When God created the earth, He did so in 6 days. On the 7th day He rested. He didn't have to, He wasn't tired, but He did this as an example to humans to take the 7th day as a day of rest. By keeping the 7th day "holy" means to not do any work at all just to take a rest from working.

But in today's society, taking the 7th day off is not always possible. Certain jobs require people to work on those days. God knows and understands us and knows what we must do.

To find these things in the Bible, you must get yourself a Concordenance. Thru cross references, you can find the info you seek.

People find it hard to keep the Ten Commandments because we are all natural born sinners from birth. Then society corrupts us further. God created the universe in six days and on the seventh He rested. That is stated in Genesis. Technically Saturday should be the seventh day, but somewhere along the line Sunday became the seventh day. I don't really understand that one myself.

Some people who say they are Christians are not really it's just the religion they associate with. The Sabbath day or Sunday come from Genesis where after God created the earth on the seventh day he rested. That day from then on was used to stop working and to thank God for what he has done for you, a day of honoring your creator. Now days it is still important to take a day to honor your creator it's just a lot harder in today society because people have jobs that you have to work on Sundays. I feel that if you can't use Sunday as your sabbath day then set apart on day from your week that is your sabbath and honor God that day.

That is a great question. Take a little time to read Hebrews chapter 10. There are more places, but I think you will find this chapter to answer your question about why Christians are not under the old law anymore. First though, let me clarify that the term "Christian" in the world is used as a broad term to describe anyone who professes to just believe in Christ and not necessarliy a follower of Christ, so you will definitely get plenty of descrepancies. Not decrepancies from God's word, but from man's personal opinion on the matters.

But Hebrews and especially ch 10 let's us know the old law is passed away to bring in the new law, hence the reason for Jesus at all. If you are pressed for time, start around verse 8 and go through 19. I will include it below, but I encourage you to read it yourself, it is short.

Now, as for Sunday; from Revelations 1:10 comes the term "Lords day" as being the first day of the week, Sunday. This happens to be the day that Jesus rose, according to Mark 16:9. After this, we must use examples set by the apostles to determine our meeting together. In Acts 20:7 we learn of the apostles coming together to partake of the Lord's supper (communion) and in I Corinthians 16:2 we also see that they meet on the first day of the week.

8First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made). 9Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 13Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16"This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds."[b] 17Then he adds:
"Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more."[c] 18And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. 19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

because they are human and everyone "falls short" and everyone needs to dust themselves off and try again, this time, not leaning on their own knowledge, will, or self - but asking for God's guidance, His will, and His spirit to help them keep the Ten Commandments - we all fail and we are all sinners - we are not perfect - not should be trying to be - we are following Christ's LOVING example and the commandments given to us - or should be - and we too (just like unbelievers) are "works in progress"
