but they don't listen to me. They say " when we ask you for food, you feed us. when we need to be held and petted you take care of it for us. You love us and accept us for who we are. And, you give us shelter from storms and cold. we will keep you as our god!" Is there any blessed catfood I can give them that might help put them back on the right path? But, I do see their point. God has never done any of those things for anyone I know.

MEXICO CITY - Five Mexican children were killed when a large metal cross they were praying at was struck by lightning in central Mexico, local media reported Monday.

Five children between 9 and 16 years old died and several others suffered burns when lightning struck a white-painted metal cross set on a hill in the town of Santa Maria del Rio early on Sunday, according to two newspaper reports.

“The lightning went straight into them and killed them instantly,” local Red Cross chief Eduardo Suarez told the daily El Norte.

My mom says If I don't believe in god, then I automatically pass up the belief in satan/devil. Ok this is fine because I don't believe in god, heaven, devil, hell. But what do you all think - I also believe there is no evil people - just people who do evil things.

Creationists like to say that god created the world in seven days and therefore evolution is not possible, but how long is one day?

Lets assume that god did tell the writers ofthe bible that he/she/it created the world in seven days. How do they know how long one day is for god?

Did god say "i created the world in 7, 24 hr periods? How do we know how god measures one day?

For several decades now evolution has been prven beyond a doubt in uncountable labs and class rooms throughout the world.

How?

Through the breeding and study of flies. Scientists have been studying hundred if not thousands of generations of flies and have documented genetic mutations in these flies that has led to evolution.

Or, how about we look at the world of medicine. Viruses evolve every day. Thats the problem with the bird flue, it has evolved from being just a bird born disease to one that is capable of killing humans.

Or, how about bacterias. Antibiotics are becoming less effective everyday due to the fact that bacteria are EVOLVING and becoming resistant and immune to the drugs.

So how can creationists ignore these facts and outright lie and say they do not exist?

How often has a Hindu tried to push their faith on you? or a Buddhist? How about a Jew or a Rastafarian? Pagans typically knock on your door and try and show you the truth?

Why do people generalize all religions when not all proselytize.

Today it's a Muslim gunman in Iraq killing 20. Yesterday it was a train bombing by Muslims in India. Still, the mindless masses chose to believe Islam is a religion of peace in spite of the fact that EVERY major world conflict involves Muslims in some shape or form.

So in the great Mohammedan tradition, since "Islam" means "peace", I hereby chose to redefine a few words: "tequila" now means "sobriety", "marlboro" means "clean lungs", and "columbine" means "quality education."

Assuming that these aliens were able to communicate easily with us, understand human concepts, etc., how long would it take before you started telling them that your religion was what they needed? What if they had their own religious beliefs? Lets say that their religious beliefs contradicted your own. Would you tell them that they were completely wrong and your religion was completely correct?

One question and a comment...

Have you ever convinced someone to change their mind through debating?

I like to consider myself an open-minded person and I like to have my beliefs tested. I find debating people gives me a reason to look into exactly why I believe what I believe. So then, if you're of like mind send me a message and perhaps we could debate.

Here's a list of some of my beliefs so you know where I'm comming from. I believe...
-in (the Christian) God
-we are saved at baptism (not prayer)
-macro-evolution does not explain the world we live in
-God does not typically answer the prayer of unsaved people
-Those who have not heard the Gospel will not likely enter heaven

Some of these things I'm not terribly dogmatic about. I just hold them as positions because they best fit the evidence I've seen so far. So feel free to contact me. Thanks!

Since human beings are very often completely wrong about things. (The world is flat, the planets and stars move around the earth, etc.) How can they be trusted to explain exactly what an all powerful deity who created and knows everything is all about?

Try taking an independent step here for a second and imagine you are from another planet and this is the first time that you have ever heard about god.

Someone comes up to you and tells you: 'There is a creature that created everything, even you, and it is all in this book that was written centuries ago.'

While, this idea might seem intriguing, what proof do they offer other than this book? How does one book flat out prove the existence of this god? Do they have anything to back up this claim other than the book and other people who already believe in this book?
