"Arguments we think creationists should NOT use"

in which creationists are advised against using many of the common creationist arguments which have been proved false.

http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/faq/dont_use.asp

Funny thing is, these are the same arguments we see on Yahoo Answers every day from creationists. How many times have I heard the "Darwin recanted on his deathbed" line ?

...calling for the assassination of someone he hates?

The recent miami group of christian terrorists (they were NOT Muslims; they studied the bible, etc) were arrested simply for WANTING to murder, but had not taken any actions or even have an actual plan.

So, what is the difference between this and Pat Robertson calling for assassination of a world leader? Is it okay because we don't like who he wanted killed -Venezuelan Pres. Hugo Chavez?

George W Bush didn't call on an assassination of Saddam - that would've been illegal & immoral. "Bringing him to justice" means a trial with evidence & sentencing, not "street justice" & murder.

So, why isn't Pat Robertsons desires treated like the boys from miami? Why doesn't the government send someone undercover to entice and entrap Mr. Robertson? What of women with abusers stalking them? Men can't be arrested unless they DO something.

So, what do you think - should Mr. Robertson be arrested on terrorism charges or not? Why or why not? Thx!

I am in a heated debate with the wife, because i want to get tiki statues for our Tiki decorated back yard, we have a bamboo gazebo, tiki bar, tiki bamboo fire bowl, furniture, ...... you get the point. She says that getting a tiki character(statue), is portraying a false god, and that it is VERY un-christian. From a Christian religion stand point is it wrong to get tiki statues, becuase that is praising a "False God" or Different God" other than Jesus Christ. Please give me details so i can justify to her why it is ok, or so that i can understand why it's not!

Do people still believe in the Big Bang theory? If so, where did the matter for the big bang come from? Where did the smallest particles of matter come from? It seems like a non-matter, anti-matter being must have created matter for it to exist in the first place. What are your thoughts about this?

This is where Jesus (supposedly) says: "I do not accept praise from men...".

As far as I can tell either
1) only women will have there worship accepted by Jesus, or
2) The word "men" means all of humanity, and anyone praising Jesus is waisting their time.

Not being a Christian, I attatch no religious significance to this. But as an historical figure, it seems that Jesus has no interest in having people worship him. Can we not respect his position?

There are some people on this Earth who drove planes into buildings. They did so primarily because of a religious ideology.

Now, I don't believe in Allah. I have a Qur'an at home and quite honestly, I'm happy to give it away if anyone wants it.

I am offended by the ideology and mythology of Allah, and by the actions of the religious persons who wanted to take a plane and smash it into the Pentagon, a building where I was sent to work on assignment a few times in my military career.

Now, is it mindless of me to be offended by that? The ideology of Allah is asking you to take this plane into that building?

They call it, a religion.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

It seems to imply that "God loves us so much that he gave us his son". Haven't many fathers given their children for much less, especially in impoverished countries? What does this mean?

is this true? It's one thing to believe in an almighty creator, but to buy into this sort of thing? How does a person make a jump from believing in a god to believing they know what god does, all from some silly book?

Have you seen this new tactic the religious use in their "answers" they say now that you are a "mindless atheist offended by something you don't believe in".

What do you think that says about them?

The only thing that every single person on the planet shares and has in common is that we are all Consious. So what is it exactly and where did it come from? Was it a chemical reaction in our brains that triggered it? Was it a divine gift from God? Or is God really just the single consiouness that we all share?

I'm not Christian myself, but I loved learning about it, and I appreciate their values. I was just wondering about a few question or instances Christians could perhaps answer me on. The more references to the Bible, the better. :)

- What is the stance on using medication? What about a Christian person who has become so depressed that it's drove them into a suicidal state - they may be aware suicide is a sin, but mental functions are inadequate? On one hand I was told that God has enabled us the technology to create medicine to use, but on the other hand it's messing with God's plans for us, and the sanctity of life.

-What do Christians believe about roleplay/sexual fantasies in the bedroom between wife and husband? Even if it leads ultimately to bearing children.

-What do Christians believe about watching television to watch the World Cup for example? Or opposed to listening to it on the radio?

Any discussion would be appreciated. :)

Proverbs 16:9 "The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps"
Proverbs 21:1 "The kings hearts is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord, He turns it wherever he wishes"

I refuse to believe that life is just a test, and that everything important to me - the love I have for my wife, the light of a bright summer morning, the people I am reaching with my words, my feeling of oneness with the universe - is just a means for me to get brownie points for another life. I'm not in high school any more. I measure my life by how much I fulfill my own values, not on how the teacher is grading me.
Why limit your mind and your life?
