Hearts are like raisins, if they are exposed, they get tough. Love is like water, if you soak a raisin, they swell to their former tender state.
To say a person has a hard heart, is to say they have been a raisin too long. Love can't get in...

No, I meant what I said. I mean hard heart ( not head).
It means nothing gets to you (emotions, love, pain, any person). A person may actually be that way or only look that way. Often when people get hurt, they harden their hearts to avoid getting hurt again. It kind of works but the only problem is if you're not willing to feel pain, you don't get to feel love either.

I've always taken it to mean a cold-hearted stubborn person that has no compassion for others. Such as when Pharaoh kept resisting Moses pleas and the plagues and every time the Bible would say "But still his heart was hardened."

The heart is the seat of the emotions in our society. A "hard heart" simply means that your emotions are difficult to get to. You don't display your emotions easily and you probably don't think about how others feel when making decisions.

Read nost of the answeers and most of them are right..Your a cold person, Nothing barthers you, you have no feelings for others around you, no compashion what so ever..The who cares attude..If this onld effected only you well who would care, but that kind of attude efects everyone around for, boy its a hard way to go through life..Makes it hard for people to have real trust and feelings for you..Boy I know that was me 40 years ago, bid bad Navy Seal, Tough Guy.. You are reluctant to change. Things don't make you emotional, or that your heart is not stirred with great feelings. It can not be "pierced" to drive you to repent or change your ways. It can make you insensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. It means you are arrogant and proud.

It means you don't love or respect yourself. Which in turn means you live with a guilty conscience and a sad heart. I know, I used to be there.

I think it's like saying that you are a tough, or cold-hearted person, or perhaps that it's tough for someone who cares about you to win your affection.
