People believe this rubbish for one of two reasons:
1) It's how they were brainwashed as children, or
2) By default. They're desperate for some answeres, and this is what was around them, so they swallow it whole. Sad.

Remember that the Bible has lasted a mighty long time, and that people find God through its pages in almost every translation. People who wrote the Bible spanned 3 or 4 millenia, but all said basically the same thing one way or another. That's not a "silly book"!
Jesus died for everyone, but we have to accept Him one at a time. Until then the "wages of sin" law applies.

How can you even believed in God when you say his word is a silly book? As you clearly put it that "the wages of sin is death" but you did not complete the verse "but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus" Roman 6:23.

Faith is the substance of things hopes for, and the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1
Now I have faith in God but I understand that the bible has been poorly translated and may be a little inaccurate. Especially after King James had it translated and sweetened it up with butter and cream. But the principals are still there and I know that there is a God even if there was no Christ. People believed long before he was born and offered sacrifices of cattle or lambs for their sins. Christ died so we would not have to do that. That is all really.

The biggest jump is from atheist to almighty creator, IMO. How is the jump from almighty creator to what the Bible says more difficult?
The Bible contains prophesies that happened and we have historical proof for them, unlike some other religious texts. That alone should be enough to not discard it as silly. From there you will need to seek the truth for yourself. Evaluate the facts as you would anything else. Feel free to e-mail me with questions.

The wages of sin IS death. The Holy Spirit woos people into knowing what Jesus did. God sent Christ and when He left---He sent the Holy Spirit to confirm our belief. We don't come to Jesus unless the Holy Spirit calls us according to God's perfect plan. It has nothing to do with believing----we ACCEPT the gift when we come to Christ----we just KNOW and that is different from "believing". Remember the book says that "faith is the substance of things HOPED FOR THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN!" So let's not say it is less to do with "believing" and more to do with HOPING! For we were bought with a price. And we KNOW that---we don't have to BELIEVE it anymore although we do---Don't get me wrong----we believe that Christ died for us---we believe that Christ was sent for that very purpose---we believe that Jesus was conceived by a virgin----we believe that Jesus was raised on the third day---we believe that He wandered around the countryside giving testimony to His disciples---after His resurrection. WE believe that HE ascended---to His Father---and finally we BELIEVE that HE IS COMING AGAIN! But all that aside---we don't need to BELIEVE----because we KNOW in our heart because the Holy Spirit confirmed our BELIEF and now we just wait for HIS return because we believe it is going to happen SOON!

Jesus was invented so that man would feel terminally sinful and guilty. The christian religion helped opiate the masses of the Roman Empire and eventually was its downfall. You can believe what you want and if Jesus fits into your beliefs then you will believe what you wrote. Remember religion was made by man. Spirituality was made by God. There are many religions in this world, all equally valid.

because the "silly book" is the Bible and is holy....y do u think in court they have the witnesses swear on the Bible? When Jesus died, he made it possible to be forgiven by asking Him, not sacrificing and going into a temple. u could get forgiveness by the means above, but because Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice, u dont need to do all the rituals and sacrifices. U just need to pray and ask Him for forgiveness.
