I know that you want Catholics to answer this question but I can not help myself (I'm an American Baptist). It is true that some other christian groups do not look kindly upon Catholics, I however do not feel that is right to judge anyone based on anything let alone the way they worship God. However, there are some things in the Catholic religion (understand that I said the Catholic religion and not Catholic people) and here they are:
1) The Bible says to only pray to God (in Jesus' name- but still to pray directly to God) and Catholics not only pray to the Mother Mary they pray to "saints" or people they feel deserved to be sainted.
2) The Catholic church often shuns those from other religions and will not allow them to partake in holy communion without first becoming a Catholic (sometimes they are not even allowed in the church). In my opinion, when you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior you should not be made to feel as though you are unworthy of the body of christ. Which leads me to
3) Catholics are baptized upon birth, when they are unable to make the decision to accept Jesus into their hearts themselves. Though that Baptism means something to the families it does not mean anything to a newborn baby that wonders why there is water being dropped on his head.
I'm sorry if this offended any of you. It certainly wasn't meant to. It was only meant to offer some sort of light as to why so many of the Christian churches don't agree with Catholic practices.

absolutely. I have been the focus of some very loving family members trying to 'save' me. I have also lost friends because they belong to a religion that believes Catholics are... well... bad bad people. I find it interesting that when I go into a conversation about religion with someone and they find out I am Catholic that suddenly what I am saying is wrong. Most of the prejudice is based on the past actions of my church and I understand that but I still have faith. I am a Christian Catholic and love my faith but boy some people just cannot believe that it is God who judges and not humans.

Yes. I lost ever single one of my friends when I converted to the Catholic Faith. Though some of my friends have had it worse. Let me tell you, it is not a fun thing to be a Black Baptist preacher man who converts and brings with him a good chunk of his congregation. This individual was very important in my own conversion and his trials comforted me when I went through my own (which were less in comparison).
Way back when I was in college, I was also persecuted academically for being Catholic and expressing Catholic views.

Suppose that depends on your definition of persecution.
Have I ever been threatened or harmed physically? NO. Nor have I ever experienced a point where I felt my life or liberty would be in jeopardy for practicing my faith.
But I have encountered a small measure of persecution in the insults I have suffered (quietly as I can) and the degradation of my being in the minds of others. Though I care not for those who decide they can judge me, I have to admit it stings a little.
But what hasn't killed me has made me stronger. :)

I cannot say that I have ever experience persecution for my faith but have experienced discrimination for it. Especially in the South. I entered a laundry in the dirty south and gave in my clothes. The man asked me my name. The man said is that name Italian , I said yes, he said you one a dose papists! He pushed back the clothes and refused me service. I assume that is the kind of love of man that is practiced by southern baptists. I really wasn't offended and it made my faith stronger. I am not ashamed to cross myself in a restaurant before grace regardless of who sees. And I don't wear a cross I wear a Crucifix.

Yes, in America and all over the world Catholics are put down and discriminated against. I feel that way sometimes, and it is not just us, it is people who believe in God and have faith in Him.
