Pride / Arrogance. You're thinking of 'pride' meaning I'm proud of my clean room"
But the Bible knows pride as willfull (won't take advice), arrogance, personal ability (alone), thinking yourself as above and better than others.

Pride is a sin because it requires placing yourself above everybody else and sometimes that can really hurt people inside to be made felt worse.
God wants everybody to be equal because he created us equal and nobody is better than anyone. Nobody. And everyone is lower than God, He is supreme.
I think if you accomplish something and you thank God personally, it is not a sin. Pride is when you accomplish something, feel good about yourself, feel better than everybody else, and not acknowledge God for making what you did possible.
The sin of pride is also evident in sporting events. When a team wins a championship, they don't stop to even think twice about comforting the losing team to say everyone's equal and it's just a game and it doesn't matter. The losing team feels like crap because of the other teams pride for example.
Envy can stem from pride too. Pride can create enemies. People will be jealous of your high stature and hate you for it. By the way, envy is a sin, too.
Showing off is one of the worst ways of pride, making everybody feel terrible and worthless, you are certainly not thinking of others. It's also the worst form of selfishness.

Pride in one's accomplishments: doing well on a test, winning a blue ribbon, etc. for something you have worked hard on and spent time on, is perfectly good.
Hubris (a Greek term meaning excessive pride) is where it becomes a sin. When your pride causes direct harm to others, when you start to think that you are truly better than everyone else instead of seeking justice in the scope of creation, then you are comitting a sin.
In the most extreme case, it is believed that he which we call Satan was once one of God's top angels. His pride led him to believe that he should be better than God, and when he failed he was cast down from heaven.
Pride becomes a sin when it is hubris, when humility before the Lord no longer rules our lives.

"No man shall glory in himself"-paraphrase. God made us not the other way around. How can you have pride and you are not even your own. Nothing you own is yours. There is a difference in taking pride in your apperance, your kids, you work ethic, but to be in a position that you think you are absolutely the 'end all be all' is not good, because what goes up in pride, God will make sure it will go down that He is always glorified (ask the ole devil!)
God is gracious, He doesn't fault you for what you don't know. But once you know and understand, take heed and if you haven't accepted the Lord Jesus as your Savior, please do. You can email me, and I can pray with you.

There are two types of pride, pride, being proud of what you accomplished, and the other, pride being over confident and cocky, making everyone around you seem smaller. That is the pride that is a sin.

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

You did right to put it in all caps. Pride is sin because it can easily snowball into arrogance and insolence. At the end of it, you may not be left with much self-respect even.

Read Proverbs chapter 3, especially verse 34, and 1 Peter 5:5. Pride is a form of exalting oneself, and thinking more highly of oneself the you ought to (also bad ideas according to scripture). God looks on the heart of man, and sees our motives for why we do what we do, not just what we do. Motive and heart issues are the core of the matter, why things are rewarded or shamed.

Pride is considered a sin because religions want good little sheep who will fall in line, sit on cue, stand on cue, and pay their tithes. Pride undermines that.

Having Pride, and Confidence, in ourselves, and others, is a very good thing to have, as long as it is used wisely! We should not drown ourselves, or others with compliments, or expect others to do the same thing to us!! Because if we show that we are proud, and confident, in ourselves, and others, for selfish reasons it is not good! We can be proud, and confident, with out being conceited about it,or think that we are better then every one else, or that we have to insult our intelligence just to make some one else feel good! God has given us the ability to be able to see the good & bad, and to also have confidence, in ourselves and others, but he has also made us aware that we are not suppose to judge anyone, not even ourselves. That Is His Job!!!!!
God Bless You!!!
