Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also." Does this imply that those who don't know Jesus will never know the Father or simply that because of Jesus's sacrifice any of us can know come to the Father regardless of our beliefs?

Why do people say that evolution is a fact? I am not pushing creationism. But to say that evolution is a fact is to lie. It is call the "theory" or evolution because it hasn't been proven there is evidence that supports the hypothesis but it could easily support other theories. To say that is a fact is the same as those people that say Jesus is your savior is a fact or every part of a religous text is a fact. Be honest.

I am curious if any of you Bible thumpers or Kuranaholics out there have ever read anything else to challenge your world view or are you so closed minded that you simply ignore any alternate view of reality.

Don't list any religiously anecdotal material either...like "How God Saved me and my Hamster" or whatever these are just rehashes of your current philosophy.

Can any of you explain the difference between a hypothesis and a theory? How about a brief explanation of relativity or super-string theory. Maybe even the meaning of E=mC2

Leave alcohol, shrooms, drugs of any sort, chemical ingestion or use OUT! Be practical, not theoretical, as this is not a question to spout "read the Bible/Koran/etc." which does not, in itself serve as a practical method of altering consciousness, whatever other good effects it has.

Give things the readers can try now, with a little effort, that they can try and test for themselves.

Spinning around and making yourself dizzy is only O.K. to mention if you are a Sufi of that particular type (there are several types of Sufi)! Let's not get TOO silly. I'd like to think a few of you are not bankrupt of any practical experience.

It's O.K to use your present religion as a template, but it is as a design for a NEW religion, a theoretical religion. What would be the three most important parts of it? One side question: Should I ask more like this rather than the usual fair of Islam/Christianity/Judaism/Buddhism/Hinduism/etc.? Points? I don't need no stinkin' points!

i never really gave religion much thought, and even though people have given me bibles before, i never read them. up until the last couple of years i've been a pretty hard partier, and now i just work alot and don't really want to be religious, but in the last couple of weeks it seems imperative i read the bible...i don't even agree with what im reading, and its slow going with all the begats and whatnot, but for some reason i feel i have to keep at it and get it done...even my super-dork bf is starting to make fun of me...what the hell is going on? (i have no underlying stress or problems, everythings pretty mellow)

This is a question that I lik eto ask merely because there are many "christians" out there who will say, "yes," but when asked how they know, they don't have a real answer. So here is your chance to give maybe your testimony or just tell the world how you know.

Judaism values ethics above both doctrine and reason. The growing awareness of pain and harm connected with circumcision leads to questions about ethical considerations. How do we begin to justify the practice of circumcision on ethical grounds? It is significant relative to this question that, according to an authoritative book on Judaism, "the Torah prohibits the torture or causing of pain to any living creature."47 Now that we know some of the consequences of circumcision, Jewish law (Lev. 19:11; Exodus 23:1) obligates us to be open and honest about it. In addition, we may ask if, given a choice, we would consent to being circumcised. If not, then considering Hillel's encapsulation of Judaism: "What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow-creature" (Sab. 31a), should we force circumcision on another?

Significantly, virtually all that has been written about circumcision over the centuries ignores the infant's experience.

"Why do christians say that their religion is true and other religions are false?"

Not exactly written like that, but it's like that. The ones I see come with more stupidity.

Ok I'm being serious here, this is not a slam on islam or its people. I only know from the US media that in certain middle eastern countries women have to wear the burkha outside and accompanied by a male. Other countries its just the covering of the hair. I have heard this is to keep women from tempting men. What is the rationale behind this?
