It's O.K to use your present religion as a template, but it is as a design for a NEW religion, a theoretical religion. What would be the three most important parts of it? One side question: Should I ask more like this rather than the usual fair of Islam/Christianity/Judaism/Buddhism/Hinduism/etc.? Points? I don't need no stinkin' points!

First three have the idea! Good templates? I'll repost it a couple of times if it's successful and maybe post the final list with a link to it and let you see the results!

Three most important points:

1) Faith in god - Always remember god (I think all the present religions preach this, but I don't know if everyone practices the same).
2) Respect for individuals - Treat every human being equally. No caste system required. Please don't divide people based on caste/ colour/ economic condition etc. At least the religion shall not say that some people are better than others in their religion or for that matter even those of other religions.
3) Intolerance against injustice - The religion shall empower everyone to speak up against in-justice and protect the weak/ poor.

With my limited knowledge of religions around the world, Sikhism is closest to my ideal religion.

Universal acceptance and the equality of humanity.
The law of threefold return: good or bad, what you put out comes back to you three times.
No preaching outside the faith: your living example then has to inspire curiosity and interest in the faith, rather than winning converts through doctrine.

Guess there'd be more to it than that - respect for nature and every living thing, striving to make a positive difference etc - but guess if you boil all that down, it amounts to those three main strands.

On the side question - yeah, this was a really interesting take on things, asking for a commitment of thought to the idea of "what would you do different?" Enjoyed it. Thank you.

Firstly no mythical beings
Secondly no mythical irrational creation stories
Finally, no books of fiction to tell my followers what to do.

Oh yeah, is it ok if pretend to be the son of god in the new religion or is it better if I just say I am chatting to god on a one-one basis as he's selected me to be his secret messenger? I wouldn't like to base my new religion on an omnipotent god who could have invented the loudhailer or printing press and used paper instead of stone or maybe gold plated titanium tablets that couldn't erode or be smashed by dropping.. I think I'll kick the burning bush in to touch as well, it's a health and safety issue and I wouldn't want my followers to get burnt. Finally, I think I'll open my religion up to women and those odd gay people that most religions don't know what to do with, but definitely no priests or popes or ayatollahs allowed. They shall burn in my hell of eternal damnation, also known as Microsoft Windows.

1) As you go about your life, try to think about the next guy too, besides for yourself.
2) It's ok to surrender your worries and your cares to a higher being.
3) Not everything about your life that you can see right here and now has to make sense. You *don't* have to understand it all, and you don't need to have full control at all times. Someone else is steering, so sit back and quit worrying.

I started the Society of New Reasoning. It doesn't have three aspects and it's not really a religion. Members can belong to any religion of their choice, or believe anything they wanty in their religion, but we don't argue religious doctrines. We only strive to recognize the difference between good and evil and practice to be good people.

1. No dogma and no rituals. Tthe religion will welcome all investigative questions. All followers are encouraged to question its teachings.

2. Encourage its followers to be a good and compasionate being and help others in distress.

3. Be able to explain the existence of life and the universe in irrevocable logical way.

If I do not get wrong...
There should be social regulations. Revards and punishments.
There should be environmental regulations. Physical, space, animals, etc.
There should be a God belief. To fulfill the human's naturally given aspect.

- be honest to yourself and others
- love your life and love others. If there is a God, he has to love his creature. In new religion God also learns from his mistakes. He alraedy did it, he created dinosaurs and got bored with it so he then removed them from the earth and created the Human to create new things that were not created before such as Love, sorrow, happiness, compasion, etc. He might even get bored with Human being and he might create something NEW. Some feelings that we never experienced. So try to keep your God amazed! not to be bored with you. Talk to him and try to make him to talk to you!
- No pain, No gain
