We behave differently in public and when we are alone. Let see what people do when they are alone (say in the lift).

When is everyone going to realize that, sure, there are Christians, Atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and everything else in between, yet we are all hurt the same way by a blow to the head? We all share what hurts and what we need to live. When will we stop arguing who is right and actually work together to make a better world? We may think differently, but we all need to breathe, eat, and drink don't we? We all have good ideas and it is about time that we listen to each others - that is what every human spirit needs to realize.

The Catholic Church is not a "denomination" since for about 1000 years, the Catholic Church was the only Christian Church and all Christians in the world were members of it.

"Denominations" happened after the first Protestants split off from the Catholic Church and when people split from that split and so on and so on. Now today we have over 33,000 Protestant denominations with new ones being founded each day. With Protestantism, if someone doesn't like a certain teaching, all they have to do is leave that congregation and start their own congregation with one less teaching. For example, many modern Protestants are now denying the existence of Hell and sin, and some don't even believe in God but still call themselves "Christian". I think that this is the ultimate end result of that slippery slope.

And why does poverty exist. It is easy to ignore such things in a nice country like the US; but how about the rest of the world? I bet if we took all the Christians in the US and moved them to Africa permanatley they would not be beleivers anymore.

I was at a sporting event and it was the final game. Team A is praying to beat team B and vice-versa. Now, apply this to a larger scale: different religions praying against each other; different denominations within the same religion; family vs family-if most people are praying, competeing interest are bound to arise; so, how does God accomodate this. What criteria are used to decided if team A is favored over B? Would love to hear your thoughts-thanks!

Baha'is believe in a future 'New World Order', but this term first came into use in 1912 or so, thus pre-dating George H.W. Bush (Senior)'s use of the term by 80 years or so. My question is whether the Baha'i concept, which is all about respect, compassion, spiritual answers to economic problems, justice etc. is the light side of the "New World Order" as it is discussed by conspiracy theorists, particularly in the 1990's (in my experience anyways!) Conspiracy theorists generally describe the NWO to mean the centralization of power and wealth on a grand scale, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting dead. Oil and media company mergers are symptoms of this approaching "order", as is the increasing tyranny of our own government (USA).

There are many verses from the Quran that order Muslims to fight. Some examples are [2:216; 8:65; 9:29; 9:123; 4:77; 47:20] and many other verses. To carry out God's orders, prophet Muhammed was engaged in more than 35 wars!

My question is: How come God the all almighty needs people to defend him? I thought that if god wants to defeat pagans or spread Islam, he would do it without need for fighting.

I mean really what is it? Is forgiveness going to the person and telling them they are forgiven? Is it having the inner peace that there is no more animosity? Do you have to go to that particular person to forgive inorder to be considered as forgiveness?

When I try to have a meaningful conversation and possibly learn something, it's always faith, faith, and more faith. Especially if they don't know the answer. If I had FAITH I would not be asking the questions. Just give me some straight answers. No, this is not a dig at Christianity. Yes, before you all tear me up, I have read the Bible among other religious books. And I do pray to MY God who is more than likely your God also. One TRUE God and all that. Please try to restore my "FAITH" in the HUMAN species. Thank you all and Keep smiling.

It just kind annoys me when they bring god into every conversation. Or if they try to inflict their beliefs on you. The whole thing seems kind of cultish to me. Could someone explain what makes them think that everyone is interested? I want actual answers im not ranting or anything.

OK i know this is a tough question. I know that everything is based on "conditions", e.g. U fall for a girl, u say "i love her selfishlessly". This is impossible, u fall for her is because her character attracts u right? Or her smile, her look, her body.. Whatever reasons, there must be a "condition" there; If not, u won't fall for her.
This is just an example, but it is true. Similarly, to love and trust in GOD, there got to be something u want or praying for is rewarded by him, otherwise how will u put your trust into him? Without any evidence, u can't bring yourself into this trust relationship.
Agree?

first off, if you want a reply or further conversation on the subject email me at jessiemcmillan@hotmail.com
now, don't preach here i want serious opinion and whatnot
I am an atheist and am not condoning christians or anyone elses ideals, i'm just trying to get them to take another look.
some religious IDEALS are a great thing to live by.
I would like to say that sooo many things in the bible have been proven wrong since the age of questioning, when people started counting the petals on a flower instead of reading plato.
i don't see how someone can believe in something like that when their "miracles" could be simple natural occurences, their stories could be written to change the way they behave and so on and so forth. The bible went through the hands of many leaders in ancient rome and other places so why would they not have changed it to their own benefit?
