We behave differently in public and when we are alone. Let see what people do when they are alone (say in the lift).

The last time I was in a lift, was really the last time.
I went through steel and through a 12'' wall to get out of it.
Someone who's more sensable than me, told me, you should rang the bell button, and that would took you to the ground floor, it was still stuck after 7 days.

I just lean against one of the walls and wait for the lift to stop where I need .

I wait till I reach my place. The moment you even think to do something till you are alone in the lift, you are joined by someone or reached your place. hehe

I fart very loudly in elevators by myself, as opposed to holding them in or letting them out quietly in public.
